Building a Campfire with Fatwood to the Sound of Ocean Waves

I hike out to my favorite spot near the ocean and build a campfire using pine fatwood. I found a large branch that had fallen off a tree and used a saw to make short wood logs, and then I used a knife to split the logs. This method is both quick and safe. When the firewood is this dry it’s quite easy to get the fire going. The crackling sound of the fire in combination with the ocean waves makes for a relaxing ambience.
After building the campfire I boil water in a kettle and make steeped coffee (also known as cowboy coffee). As we’re getting closer to winter the sun sets quite early. This was filmed around 2-3 PM. In just a few weeks the sun will not rise above the horizon for about a month (which is called the polar night).

I do think i havw a strange attraction to flames. There is just something about the whole process that are really enjoyable. I try to make a fire as often as possible my self. Even if i dont need it for cooking or heat, i just love the sound and can stair into the flames for hours. It just set's the mood when you are outside enjoying nature. Thank you for this great video Kristian. You are a true artist with your camera. And let there be no doubt.... you inspire me in so many ways. Great job, 👏🏻🇳🇴

You're not alone! It's a great feeling. The bushbox/firebox type of woodstoves have greatly increased the number of times I make a fire, and I guess it's the same for you? It's just so easy to use, and leaves almost no marks in the terrain. As always Thomas, thanks for your support! 😊🙏🏻
