I don't think I've seen a more unorthodox approach to building a classical guitar, but the attention to detail is still astounding.

A tip you may know but maybe others don't: instead of double sided tape for planing thin or awkward shapes, use masking tape, and super glue. tape both bench and piece. Put super glue to glue both tape surfaces and then when finished just rip off tape. I have 'clamped all sorts of awkward pieces, and even trusted it to hold down template for routing. Quick too!
@DieterSchneider2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that works pretty well, I actually have a video showing that trick, but to be honest, I like double sided tape better (even though it can be a bit harder to get off)

How did you mount the thin strips of veneer inserts at center of two-halves of guitar back? For example, you opened a channel for the headstock veneer and added the veneer strips. Did you do the same for guitar back or applied the veneers at the time of joining the back 2-halves? Thank you.

Thanks, just started on the second build. I bought a bending iron to get out the spring back in the sides (and other tasks like bindings and rosette strips). Other than that I think most things will be done mostly the same way.

May I ask how you align (reference) the headstock to carve out with the CNC?
@DieterSchneider10 ай бұрын
I use the center line of the guitar, and a v-bit to position it perfect (jog the y-axis along the center line of the headstock to make sure it's correct)

Please I noticed a design on your laptop, what app do you use to construct a plan for your guitar, if there's?
@DieterSchneider Жыл бұрын
Hi, the design on the laptop is the rosette design which I made in Photoshop, but the guitar plans are basically a Hauser 37

Thats a beauty, nice! How many guitars did u build before this one as I saw u didnt originally started as a luthier but rahter general woodworking. How did u learn how to build guitars? I once did an internship at a local luthier and its the biggest regret of my life not having asked him if I could do my aprenticeship there. So now I sit behind my screen and whatch other people building guitars. I really enjoyed the music in the video. As I dont really know the pieces, would you mind sharing the names? Thanks in advance and best regards :)
@DieterSchneider Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I read a lot of books about guitar building, and I watched many videos here on YT about classical guitar building. Classical guitar fourms are also a great soure for learning. Plans are of course important (full scale plans). Becoming a luthier apprentice is a luxury, but many great luthiers were self taught. Robert Bouchet built his first guitar at the age of 48, and he is one of the most influential guitar makers of the twentieth century.
