Building a Deck Frame on Pavers

Framing looks awesome. Have you finished decking yet? Another question.. Would you recommend aluminum framing and pedestals for mixed heights and bases? e.g. mix of uneven earth and concrete?

Yep, I finished it with composite decking on top. There is different height pedestals available from 25mm up to 270mm, higher would need a post. Uneven earth would need a round concrete footing and then you can put a pedestal on top.

I see you don't have too many videos. It's just mostly shorts, which I know sometimes that does help your channel, but I think an extensive video of some of your projects would probably be beneficial. I know I would enjoy it just to see what you come up with. I do a few things myself but not a lot. I found your chanel through Snapchat unfortunately instead of KZbin. But that's okay. I thought I would check it out

I got the frame and pedestals from Outdure. Composite decking can be screwed to the frame with the concealed fasteners and metal screws.

You mentioned there is a gap of 5mm between the wall and the frame. How do you get the gaps, do you have to fix clips against the wall the sets the gap? And do you need to screw in the frame to the wall?

I measured the gap to maintain the distance; you can put window packers in there. I didn't fix it to the wall; it's floating on the pedestals between the house wall and the garden bed wall. Once the composite decking went on, there was no movement because of the weight.

Great video Luke! Learned a lot. Question: is your fencing just corrugated metal sheets painted white? If so, what gauge did you use and how did you prep them for painting?

Awesome. Whats the minimum clearance for this decking system? Also rough cost per m2?

I went down to 5mm clearance with the rubber packers and ensured the substrate had adequate drainage. The clearance is also relevant to what you are putting on top. I finished mine with composite decking, which only needs 40mm clearance and adequate drainage. The rough cost is $160 AUD per m2.
