Building A Detailed Downtown Waterfront and Residential Area in Cities Skylines!

In this episode, we're finally adding a major chunk of the waterfront to Downtown Port Douglas! We're preparing for a nice beach just south of Downtown, and building a tiered promenade with a lush, intentionally-overgrown park, and a central statue of someone that was probably pretty important during the founding or shaping of the city! (In other words, I lack statue/sculpture assets so we're going with the good old vanilla imperialist-dude-on-a-fancy-horse!)

- What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-KZbinr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!

I love that you chose the waterfront to work on. It’s just been sitting there and i kept trying to think of what could go there and you came up with a beautiful, sensitive and unexpected solution. The Quays (and the layering there) the walkways and the vegetation works out very nicely! I think I’ve said it before, you know which tools to use and you use them well. Well done :)

I really liked your music selection in this episode, especially the more garage/dnb kind of stuff. Atumn Air by Victoryia is also a banger! when it comes to the waterfront it would be really cool to see a pier of some sort where the statue is located. Could be a good way to end the main street.

A little story snippet for the Park: Responding to a regional naturalization program, the city had acquired funding for the restoration of the original old yet neglected waterfront park. Initially attracting the younger generation of the city and briefly making 'the zoo' the most frequented bar in town, the park increasingly faces problems with drug dealers and other illicit activity at night. The local community last week brought forth a proposal for placing surveillance cameras to the city council in the hopes of preventing further deterioration of the otherwise well-received park.

Not sure if a new series is such a good idea. I've been enjoying Coniferia, and I would miss the weekly episodes (as I imagine you won't have enough time to put videos for each series every week). With that being said, I do find the idea of a city with a dense and tall skyline rather appealing. Perhaps a hybrid of US and Canadian cities like NYC, Chicago, Toronto, and Vancouver...

I have a suggestion. In american and canadian cities, there's often redevelopment near industrial area such as a port. I think it would be the perfect spot to construct a stadium (arena for hockey/basketball or even a football (soccer) stadium). You already have the area next to bickville and the end of the beach being already a more rounded spot of the city grid. Btw, i also remember seeing the comment months ago and I don't know if you saw it. I think with the evolution of names in time because of slag, i think Brickville would have become bricktown, then brixton and then maybe Brixon. I wish I could find their name again!

wE NEED to Build a Skyline somthing that every body want to see in the distance I think we can make it look more better and make some high buildings like a classic downtown got a point of hight (a tall building) and focusing on it

Excellent build and magnificent video! And the music selection is wicked 😎 cool. Your Outer Brickville is inspired. 💡 In a future video I would like to see the 4 lane stroad along the water reconfigured as a tree-lined, 2-lane divided street with parking at the curb and the tramline down the middle on its own grassy center reservation. That would spruce up the area and increase the property value of the buildings fronting it.

The graphics are incredibly crisp and sharp. What do you do to get it all looking so darn good. Wow. Is it 4K or something? The realism is insane. I've spent hours trying to get the graphics to look like yours. Unreal. I'll search your videos, maybe you made one about the graphics. Awesome work! I see all your mods, but tweaking the loads of settings is hard.

Nice detailing as always. The american idea of having a big road (or stroad in this case) directly along the waterfront is completely alien to me, tho. That's the most valuable land! Don't lay asphalt on it! There are two much more sensible approaches: (Read each as a band of zones along the shore/edge of water) - water, nature/park, bike highway, high value apartments/houses, small street, high value commercial, road with public transport, rest of city - water, pedestrianized key wall _with_ bike highway, high value apartments/houses, small street, high value commercial, road with public transport, rest of city To sever your city and your people from the water by building a highway/stroad makes absolutely no sense at all. Neither from the standpoint of livability nor from a financial standpoint. Properties with water access, or at least not blocked from the water by a stroad, generate much higher taxes.
