Looks really good. One place that I recommend improving is at all the bolted bearing hinge points. The bearings must ride on the smooth shaft of the bolts and not the threads. The threads will eat the bearings. Also add grease fittings and passages.

Very impressed with the design and work. Before I purchase the plans I had one question. You said the dimensions were altered on the plans to correct the arms from hitting the ram. I take that statement to mean you adjusted the plans so the arms no longer hit the ram and you do not have to mill out those angled notches in the ram now? Is that correct?
@KOPOprojects2 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly everything is corrected in the plans you won't have to mill an angled notch!

I found that your dies in the video are larger than specified in the plans. Even with the corrected anvil height, I still needed to add another 1 inch plate to get the dies to the 1 5/8 dimension recommended. Also, the turnbuckle adjustment won't work with only the right hand threaded rod in the parts list. I highly recommend having the holes for the bearings done on a milling machine as I found a drill press to be too imprecise. Good plans overall. I just finished this build, cost about US$2500.

There is a plastic bearing surface between the bolt head and the ram ! I hope this answer your question ?

im having problems with the uwhm plastic inserts - the anvil keeps pulling them out - any suggestions
@KOPOprojects11 ай бұрын
You need a retainer over them that have a square hole 1/16 to 1/8 larger than your ram. This way they will not be pulled out.
@Chrisbugg888811 ай бұрын
i have the retainers and they are stil pulling out
@KOPOprojects11 ай бұрын
I would say either try a tighter fit on the retainers or try thicker uhmw insert so that they can't be pulled out
