You are one smart guy! How did you come up with this design? Working smarter not always harder! Blessings...
@joshuareynolds52195 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the idea was something I had seen in a video, but that was done with huge cattle panels, so I just scaled down the design to use small springs. We drive the atv through there 2-4 times a day so it really saves time!

I need something like that for my truck to pass over on my Texas ranch lands. Do you plan to continue this kind of work into your adult life? Good videos keep them coming!

I'm having a problem finding springs with the correct tension. Can you offer more specifics other than the 16 inch length. Ideas where I might purchase? Great video by the way. Direct and to the point without a bunch of cutsie stuff or chatter.

Hi, thanks for watching my video, glad you found it helpful. I got these particular springs at Lowes, here are the exact ones I got: www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-Zinc-Gate-Extension-Spring/3115901. I am actually loading these springs with more weight than they are designed for resulting in the gate not springing back up very quickly, so ideally I would recommend something a bit stronger, mostly in weight capacity. Despite this, the gate I built in this video is still working and I go through it everyday. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@@joshuareynolds5219 Wow. Thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. Going to build this on the trail to my camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We'll see if it works in snow. Thanks again for the video and the help on the springs.

Where I live in Arkansas we don't get much snow so let me know how it works out! I just remembered another change I made to the gate since this video. I had originally wrapped pieces of wire around the bottom of the posts to hold the gate down, but those broke after a couple months. I got 2 "U bolts" and drilled through the posts and tightened the bolts down over the bottom which made a much more reliable hinge.
@headset95 жыл бұрын
@@joshuareynolds5219 OK. Sounds like another good tip. If I'm understanding, the U-bolts are attached "vertically" on the posts creating a loop for the bottom wire of the fence to stick through. I won't be trying this until this spring or summer when I get back up there but I'll let you know how it turns out. Collecting the parts now to take with me when I go.
@joshuareynolds52195 жыл бұрын
Yes that's exactly right on the position of the U bolts. Good luck on your project and let me know how it goes!

Sir where did you get the spring from
@joshuareynolds5219 Жыл бұрын
I got them at the local hardware store but you can get them online too. They were 16 inch long extension springs, and I think 1 inch wide. Thanks for watching
