Isn’t the windshield gonna have to come out every time you want to remove The front body mounts. because the bolts are pointing up. and I suggest doing a custom rear end to avoid humongous spacers. This is my new favorite build on KZbin ❤

Hey Mike use the rear subframe from an e39 ,it requires a little bit of fabrication,but I’m sure you can handle that. That way you will gain additional width with no modifications to the actual subframe,then you can add spacers and wide wheels and I’m sure it will came together nicer and stronger. Also you can use the bigger differentials from e39 witch are less expensive and more durable. Good luck 🤙🏻

You'll regret not making separate body sections. One tap. You have to think about the energy transfer going through the entire body, it'll rip mounts, etc.

Front looks awesome!! Love the e36 chassis. I have too many myself! The latest is a e36 M3 evo in estoril blue, fizzing! You need the rear end from one of them in there to take the beating the 13bt will put out! Anyways, love your work. And the front fitment is on point!!

Quick question. What are you doing to the rear for when you tap another drifter in comp? Usually drifters just rip the plastic bumper off. Are you chopping the fibre glass or just hoping to not bend it?

People saying spacers are dangerous, are not talking about when a pro does it. When you go 80mm spacer on stock suspension, you put a lot more force on the arms. However, if you upgrade that, there is no issue. But of course you do wear your wheel bearings quicker. Not that drifters care that they will last 50% less.

Wait if tube chassis are illegal or not allowed at tracks in australia. Why have I seen videos of a guy who built his own full tube chassis 2jz mini pickup truck an drift it on track? It's like a white tube chassis ford pickup.

That’s Nigel Petrie in his engineered to slide hilux ute. And he has to get special permission to take it out on track. It’s not just a simple book a track day and go type thing. Which is stupid because his chassis is amazing!

@@itsmikelake Its probably worth liaising with a scrutineer around your build. There are other rules around keeping the same side profile and modifications to a unibody between the vertical planes created by the original forward most and rearward most suspension mounting points. It will most likely vary from one drift event to another. I believe within Motorsport Australia rulebook there is nothing saying you cant run a spaceframe or kit car. Best following it up if you haven't already would suck to get knocked back at an event.

Just a thought. Perhaps some rubber (cut out of sidewall of a tyre) between the body-chassis mount. Just to absorb some vibrations and prevent cracking the fiberglass. 💁

Well, yeah, the spacers may be made well. But what about the Bearings in the hub, I was always under the impression that it causes extra stress on the Bearings, making them go out much faster

We replace parts so often in drifting that the wheel bearings never even get a chance to see the end of their lifespan anyways. Bent trailing arms, damaged knuckles etc
