We made one of these on the weekend thanks to your video. Our staffy absolutely loves it and he just won't stop 👍 He's even happy just chasing the rope! Such a great way to wear him out and get his mind working too. Plus we only have a small yard to play and this allows for so much fun! Thank you! 🙏

Made mine about 35 minutes before watching the video. My cur/pit mix was getting out of shape (not to mention high energy) and I still can't keep up with him enough to work him out. 15 minutes on the pole and he is exhausted. This was great! We just got a rescue pit that is very underweight. Once he has healed from surgery (neutering) and a couple weeks of good food, this is going to be perfect for training him to follow instructions and keep him fit. Have had bullies all my life and can't believe I've never used one of these till today. So simple and a total game changer.

I'd like to see that as well! I have a blue nose mix but not sure how fine his bloodline is. Any way to find out??? Also, my dog will turn two next month 09/09/19. Is it too late to teach him to be as obedient as yours? He listens on certain commands when we go out for a 2mile run or when i have snacks but other than that he isn't on the level i would like him to be. I want to understand him better and understand what I'm doing wrong as a dog owner. I want to be the alpha at all times without having to use violence to get that. I'm just a man who sincerely needs more education on this spiritual connection with animals.

My chihuahuas do a neat trick where they don't listen to a damn thing I have to say, and do what they want anyway. However, they have trained me very well. I know which barks mean "give me food", "let me outside", "take me on a walk", "it's time to go to bed", and "give me a treat, slave".

Nice! I just wish someone would post a video of someone working with a high energy dog with no impulse control from the beginning. Every video I watch seems to involve a dog that is already trained to drop it, leave it, etc. I volunteer at a local animal shelter, and try to work with the dogs that have these issues to make them adoptable. It's very hard to find any videos of people working with difficult dogs at the beginning of their training process.
@aaaaaaoooommmm6 жыл бұрын
I am also looking for some videos showing the same ~ teaching obedience to a high-energy dog ~ for the same reason ~ volunteering at the local animal rescue. We have several 2-3yo, obnoxious dogs who never learned obedience and the bigger and more obnoxious they got the more they were left outside and alone because they were no fun to be around. Finally, someone drops them off at the shelter with some lame lie and you just know they're going to get another cute puppy and do the same thing all over again. Grrr. Meanwhile, these dogs and we volunteers need help!

Genuine question and not a veiled criticism: could two dogs playing with one toy cause any aggression, as the dogs effectively are both competing to get one toy? Thank you.
@kingwillie2064 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you need to know your dogs! The point of the training just exercise, it’s control. He isn’t letting one dog hog it long enough to claim possession of it because it is his, not theirs.

How do you get the dogs so focused in that environment? That’s amazing. Even the puppy stays near you & does not run to the street. I have a 7 month old that loves people, and as soon as someone walks by, he gets distracted and wants to say hello. But you’re able to keep a puppy without holding on to her from running the the street( which my dog also does )

This looks like a great way to incorporate exercise, stability, and coordination, and obedience too. I see your dogs already recognize the commands you give them for the flirt pole. How did you first train them to be obedient in that area? I have a 28 month old pit bull male. He’s staying at a foster home with a friend until we can move into our own house (found out our landlords don’t like pitbulls). I began tp train him to sit and shake and walk with the leash without pulling when he had to move out a year ago. I want to work with the foster parent to get him trained again. He has a female pitbull that’s actually the sister of mine. This would be good for both of them. Any advice would be great! I want a dog that’s obedient so when I do get to have him back, he’ll listen. I can’t give up in him. Also, what do you feed those dogs? I’m presently feeding my pit bull 4 cups of Blue Buffalo adult dog food a day. He weighs 67lbs and just got neutered. I heard that when they get neutered, they get fat so I want to keep him strong, fit and lean and keep him active.

I'm wondering/worried about the same thing. I am working with young dogs who are already badly behaved ~ don't need to make them even harder to adopt. Or does working with the flirt pole make them focus more of their prey drive on the target rather than, say, a cat?
