I built this same kit in 1948 and became addicted to Stinson Reliants and model plane building for life.

A few years ago a friend in our free-flight club gave me his Comet Stinson kit. It was a fun build and the model came out so lightly loaded that it flew slow and majestically. When it caught some lift it soared. I still have it; probably time to recover with fresh Esaki tissue from my dwindling stash.

The kit included cement. My dad bought me one of these kits and by the time we got around to attempting to build it the cement was hard in the tube. We never did get that model built.

This is REAL AEROMODELLING. balsa, dope, pins, cement etc. No foams, fiberglass, electrics etc. Just nice kit, easy to build and a joy to fly. Fortunately, we still have today the Guillows kits.

Pins straight through the balsa, cutting directly over the plans, NO WAXED PAPER...I was 13 once, also.

Using cement to adhere the tissue. I did that, too. Didn't have a hobby knife, used a broken razor blade. Built the 10 cent kits, rarely had enough money to buy a 25 center like this Stinson. My dad had one of those orange and blue box Comet kits just like this video. I think it was a Grumman Wildcat. He never got it built. By the time I started building models the Grumman had disappeared.

Halloween 2023 right now. That kid is 97 or 98 now. Can this be technically considered one of the oldest KZbin "how to" videos? Just took his time getting uploaded.
