Thanks for this video, Doug. It helped me sort out my 601 demonstrator which was having unreliable ink feed issues. Your video enabled me to correct the alignment of the channel in the collector with the nib and feed - it had been set wrong at the factory. All good now! 👍👍 Many thanks.

Great rundown of then pen and how to rebuild/fix one. Also, looking forward to a review of the Jinhao 9019. I have ordered a couple , and I like their upgrade to a larger converter. It's still not a piston filler, but hey, it's still a step in the right direction. Thanks for your informative videos Doug.

Thanks for this video, Doug! Wing Sung 601/601A is one of my favorite morden chinese pen. I'm glad to see the revive of old WingSung/永生(means "eternal life"). My first WingSung pen is a WingSung 727 (Sheaffer's Triumph style nib fountain/ballpoint dual-use pen), which was given from my grandpa in 90s. WingSung 601/601A is now so popular in China that almost every penlover has at least one and always had replaced the nib by others. The 601A can even use Mont Blanc 24 nib, my friend has done this. The parts of 601 are easy to replace, on chineses Internet you can buy many sorts of aftermarket parts like pearl and zircon jewel, raden lacquerd cap/barrel, dedicated turned pen grip for Sheaffer Snorkel Triumph nib, etc. I love 601/601A so much and I purchased 6, all with different nibs and outlooks.

Thank you for showing us this! I've had a 601 and a couple 601As for a while now and they are some of my favorite pens. The price on these has gone up a bit since I last bought one but they are still a great value I think. And now that I know about the ease of parts availability, I can see some fun variants in my future. :) I do like the 601A a bit better just because I really like the looks of the conical nibs. And my two examples both write very well for me. I may "need" to get a couple nibs to try my hand at making my own stub nib for my 601A.

Loved this, My 6 month pen freeze is over so I'm back to adding to my rotation. Glad to see I can get the parts I want for my green 601. I really just want a different cap with a better pattern but I'm keeping my options open. I think Wingsung (the high quality one) just released the model 630 with a 14 k #8 nib with multiple nibs sizes. while I used to be hesitant to give any good amount of money for these types of pens my tolerance (and appetite) has only grown. So here's to an epic comeback.

Great video and congratulations on doing the Appelboom cohosting. I just thought I would mention that you can use a 7/32 deep well socket instead of the piston removal tool. With a bit of work you can use the new piston style in a real Parker 51 vacumatic but the solid pump design may hit the plastic tube. However, the new version you showed may not have that problem. The pump will need to be disassembled but it is possible; I tried this on a demi I'm trying to "build". You may need to use the earlier style demi though because of the diameter of the demi changed later in the aerometric version, I think. You need the metal collar/thread nut in order to reuse the blind cap. If you don't care and really want the frankepen look then use the new pump without modification and pick a cool blind cap color. I think you may get a better fill with the sac version of the pump. Something I'm going to check. Thanks for your videos. Always a must see.

Queen Elizabeth II would have agreed about the Vacumatic. Her burgundy and gold 51, from 1952, was her mom's, and she used it until the day she died. The English one remained the Vacumatic until 1952, from what I can find, and the Queen's was a Vacumatic. I really need to get a 601... I got the Parker 51 Vacumatic because I really don't like the Aerometric system. Definitely a design that deserved to be used again.

Very cool video. I really like the idea of "build your own" and I think the Jinhao 82 has been popular -at least for some - because of the swappable pieces. As classic and great this design is, I have found that I am not a fan of using hooded nibs, so this one isn't for me, but the concept is great. Thanks Doug!

At some point I will probably get the Wing Sung 601 Flighter in EF with chrome trim and the after-market steel hood. Just to have it. Just because FOMO is giving me anxiety about not getting one while I still can. All in spite of the fact that I'm not really a fan of vacuumatic fillers or hooded nibs. It's just screaming "ADD ME TO YOUR COLLECTION! NOW! DO IT!" At least the pens have stopped telling me to stab people with them. Or shoot them with one, like that old BIC commercial advertising the toughness of their tungsten carbide balls by shooting them through an oak board and showing they would still write.

I thought you sold out to Italian acrylic overlords with the recent sales of Chinese acrylic pens! 😁😂I'd probably be maxed out at ebonite feed and piston filler Montblanc 14(which I'm still waiting in the mail) to maintain when it comes to tinkering and keeping things in good usability for long time. heard its prone to crack, but I'm ready to fix them should it just naturally occur with its 'precious resin'

It's a shame I can't find just the butt of the body. I have the newer model with the double ended finial design which I find unbalanced and would like to find just that butt piece of the older model. I had an older one but broke it. It was also simpler and more color neutral.
