This video is fantastic! Don't worry about your camera or your "heavy hands." It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't pretend to be perfect. I love that you reuse your rubber finger protectors, that the camera shakes, and that you admit when you don't always know what you're doing. It makes your video so authentic and relatable. I've come to believe that the big watch KZbinrs don't deserve as much attention anymore. They've lost their way, and it's all about money now. Teddy Baldassar always talks about the sentimental value of watches and pretends to be interested in vintage pieces, acting like that's what's important in collecting. I once met him at a show when he was at SINN and wanted to show him my rare SINN vintage watch from the 60s, back when Helmut Sinn was still involved. This watch holds a lot of emotional value for me and is truly rare. I showed him the watch and briefly explained its significance, but he didn't care at all. That showed me it's all just for show. He lost a subscriber that day, and you've gained one today. Keep it up!

Thank you for the very kind words. Watch collecting once again became a hobby for me a few years ago and with most things I start to do I want to know all I can about the subject. Learning to work on watches and bring them back to life is such a treat. I watch Teddy Baldassar mostly for the guests he talks to. I have a vintage Bulova that is in the final stages of a service and I am just down to one final piece. I cannot wait to share that with you. btw, I would love to see your watch collection. Feel free to hmu on socials or email me. info is in the about section.

1/ use rodico to manipulate and put the hands on place instead of tong and fingers. way more easier. 2/ dont press totally before making the test, press just enough and test it . if your min hand is at 10 instead of 12, just move it gently with toothpick on the 12. you dont need to totally remove it. then test again, and if it's ok, now you can press it totally. 3/ to alignate back and top, just use some piece of steel wire, place them in the holes of the top, put in place and you will just have to put the wires trough the hole of the back part. then of course, remove the wire and put the screws

Now try doing it when you have a benign tremor which i have due to motor neurone disease 😢the longer it takes or the more it goes wrong the worse i struggle. So i can't really do it tbh, i stick to the easy stuff. But I've tried with watches that need repair but I'm not to concerned if i break it which i generally do but that's how you learn right. 😮😅😊

Hello, interesting video! Can I ask what the name and function is of the gasket/ring that goes around the stem on which the hands come and which the dial goes on top?
@laststopwatchchannel

@laststopwatchchannel

if its the flat ring you are referring to that is a dial washer which gently keeps the dial back off the canon pinion. It is there to reduce friction between the canon pinion and the dial back.

if the crown stem was off center horizontally in relation to the case then adjusting the movement should help. if it was off center vertically, then I would check to make sure you have the dial pressed all the way down on the movement. Other than that I am not sure. Would love to see what you ended up with!

Skin oils and moisture wreak havoc on a movement. Hands will sweat in nitrile gloves and that might drip in the movement if you're not careful. Finger cots help prevent that. @laststopwatchchannel 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the compliment ! For the particular watch in this video I do know the power lasts about a day after I take it off wrist. @petergreenwald9639

I notice in the pictures on Ali that they appear to be genuine Seiko movements, just a variant they sell for repair/replacement/modding. If you look at the picture of the rotor that winds the watch, TMI means made in Hong Kong by Time Module, Inc. now owned by Seiko. If it says SII, then it is made by Seiko Instruments, Inc. in Chiba Japan. Genuine parts off the "line." The ones in a Seiko watch are probably taken from the "line" and calibrated and inspected before installing. But I don't know that for a fact. I have a $300 Seiko 5 I recently bought pre-owed from a watch collector. Given it's $200 in my area just to take the movement apart and oil it and regulate it, I will spend $30 on Ali and replace it soon. It appears to run over a minute slow which tells me it is time for a cleaning and lubrication.
@laststopwatchchannel

it sounds like you could possibly get away with adjusting the regulator on that watch to help with time. Let me know when you do replace the movement and if you plan to film. I would love to watch.
