Building a Japanese style bench with old rotten wood

These boards were in the ground receiving water and sun for years and the fact that there is wood left intact despite the conditions they were in tells me that there is good wood behind the dirt, in the end, I managed to get many pieces, but I had to add three of my own because some parts were either knots or rotten.
The furniture is Japanese style with tricky joinery, this is one of the best and most complex projects that I have done with 15 joints and 32 pieces, it took me approximately 100 hours of work.
The joints I made are mortise and tenon, tusk mortise and tenon, dovetail and finally a half-lap joint.

The Master Craftsman, proved his high knowledge, long experience, unusual talent . True , the wood is rotten , but it has been treated by Mother Nature . That’s means, it’s strong , sturdy , it will live forever.

There are a lot things I like about this table but there are no things I dislike. Very well made with stuff other people throw away. Keep it up!

Thoroughly enjoyed this. The construction details, the fact that you left and even enhanced the texture on the bottim rails, and I'm a big fan of the repurposed marble. Great video. More like this. Subbed.

Very nice carpentry work, well done. What is the species of this exotic wood ? 👌👍👍
@_Donideas_
@_Donideas_ 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! Appreciate it, I believe the wood species are mahogany and white cedar as a contrasting wood in the joinery.
