If you want to build a different pneumatic Lego train, try connecting the piston to the wheels like that of a regular steam locomotive.

Interesting. Maybe making the engine power a pump? But it would need to be started to run.

It is inposible to make an engine that pumps enough ait to power itself because of the friction takes away so much power

To power itself, it would need to compress a cylinder with equal volume to the one running the engine (or a different mechanism which would lead to the same result but be harder to imagine). For this to be possible, the cylinder running the engine would need higher pressure than the one being compressed, otherwise, it would equalize and stall the engine. Since the cylinder being compressed needs to have lower pressure, it would supply less pressure back than being supplied, and eventually have too little pressure to run. In fact, a compressed air engine pumping air to itself would not even be possible with 0 friction and 0 leaks, since then it would equalize, for it to power itself, it would literally need negative friction.

Try changing the angle of the timing to 90° I find that that works best in pneumatic engines

well because your piston is not only osilating but partilaly rotating it needs to piviot from the center

you said camshaft instead of crankshaft the camshaft is a separate shaft with lobes that control the valve timing

I think that the engine could be stronger with better timing, just an hypothesis by watching the video in slow-mo.

What pressure should I use for my 1 engine? (Should I make piston intakes more in radius to upgrade pistons power?)
