Just got into letterpress and sourcing parts and stuff has been a huge pain, I'm amazed at your craft work to make all this yourself. The flywheel looks awesome! Are you concerned about durability? I feel like I would be worried I'm one mistake away from cracking the thing, though as a best attempt for what's available it looks great

Thanks! Yea, I am a little worried as to how it will stand up long term - I've had a few chips fall off, but other than that it's stayed mostly intact over the past ~6 months. One thing I'm considering is covering the wheel in some farm + implement paint (the same stuff I use to paint the press in a later video!) and I'm hoping that will help keep the thing together. But for the caliber I am working at, I think what I have is going to be fine. All that being said though, if I ever make a friend with access to a foundry - I'd definitely give it another go out of iron!

I love the handwheel. I’m wondering how much it weighs. Are you attaching the letterpress to a surface to avoid it tipping over or is the wheels weight insignificant compared to the mass of the machine ?

It I had to guess - around 20lbs? I sort of wish it had been heavier to be honest... but I think it's good enough. But you're right, it's pretty insignificant in weight compared to the rest of the machine so (at least so far) I haven't run into any tipping over / etc?

Intro music is a little loud; try keeping it somewhat below voice levels at all times in future videos. Otherwise, another great video with some straight-up sexy close ups!
