100÷ would help me. I am in preparation to build a skillion house and was using a similar design. The roof is the star of the show to me (windows will be slightly less extreme).

Truth in materials is a pretty good phrase. I’d love to hear about why you chose to use foam for a capillary break? What other products did you look at?

Thank you SO much. I'm here in Ireland, trying to figure out how to build something very similar to this, albeit much smaller scale. How I wish could have you on the job Jordan!!! ☘

Nice job. The 6 foot spacing of the rafters was worth it.

Excellent work & beautiful. My only concern is house is in Texas so potential for a tornado. An EF5 will lift against the roof even with beams. I would want to ask a structural engineering about the wind uplift ??

Hi Jordan. Great video & loved the roof video too. Fantastic! I'd love to see a video on the finishing & insulating around the metal beams, above the windows to get a well sealed and aesthetically pleasing final finish that is energy efficient and effective.

Hello @Jordan Smith, I wrote a reply yesterday and it was deleted!!! So I will make another attempt... I realize the the roof consist of 2" x 6" tong & grove decking boards maybe #1 or select, roof rafters are spaced 6' OC, may I ask the width and height of the roof rafters??? We are moving to Maine and I am designing our Passive Double (Skillion or Clerestory) Shed Roof house plans with exposed wood ceilings beams (roof rafters and 2" X 6" T&G too) with an attached green house... I am new to using Chief Architect Premier software... Jordan Smith Would you do a follow-up video on the "Roof Video" please, Liked N Subscribed!!! I would enjoy a conversation with you also... I have so much to learn and love home construction!!! Thank you!!!

Really nice structure. Question. How is the last foot or so of the t&g decking being supported since it does not span over the top of the rafters?

Technically, this is considered “curtain wall” geometry, not “window wall”. The pressure plate fastens with screws every 8” or so, then the face cap snaps on.

what is the cost breakdown on this window?
@van123446
@van123446 5 ай бұрын
you mentioned the 100k difference for 20 foot glass panels,, but wondering, really just wondering for my own perspective, if you factored in what the real difference would have been considering the extra carpentry etc. for the additional framing? thanks
@TheMomentEnds1
@TheMomentEnds1 3 ай бұрын
The “jumbo glass” cost is exponentially more. Jumbo is generally anything over 144 in any direction, and/ or anything over about 50sf. There is also considerations of glass that big with deflection, which could require thicker outboard and inboard glass. Glass that size is also costly to transport, and requires special lift equipment to handle onsite. These are some of the factors, which far outweigh adding the intermediate horizontals and using smaller sized glass.

If you get into real cost net of everything it doesn't just stop with extra framing cost. You'd also have to consider the extra cost of transporting and handling, the specialized labor to install it, the extra time to deal with something so unconventional and fragile, etc.

This looks like trash. The walls are very narrow and not panoramic.
