The stones on the houses facing the ocean were designed to keep the ocean wind coming in from blowing the laid grass bundles off the roofs. Great detail!

Why has it become the go-to to always say French "ocean" over English "sea"? Do folks think it sounds better? Seems to be how things always go
@DBT1007Күн бұрын
ye. one of the best thing from citybuilding game is.. YOU MAKE SURE TO BUILD YOUR BEST CITY that not just good looking, but also realistic. roleplaying as a forever mayor or dictator of that region.

@@tommeakin1732 Oceans and Seas are two different things my guy.
@tommeakin1732Күн бұрын
@emerald_archer Yeah folks keep saying this and never going into it in any depth. This is a side point I shouldn't get sucked into; but even if you look the word up in mainstream dictionaries, it's stated as a synonym for "sea", even when they also try and make "ocean" the "greater word" in other definitions. What I'm focusing on is why folks are always leaping for "ocean" when "sea" is, most of the time, the right word. OP's "Ocean wind" isn't even something you hear - "sea wind" is the standard English. Every time Keralis says "ocean", "sea" would be more fitting in every way. "Sea" can straight up mean "any great body of salt water". Historically, "sea" has always been the standard for English speakers, even when talking about bodies of water modern folks would insist on calling "oceans". Lets be real, we're all taught English = bad; French = good.
@metzger1002Күн бұрын
@@tommeakin1732In German, we have 3 words for that. Meer, Ozean and See. There are 7 "Ozeane" in the world, the Atlantic Ocean is an "Ozean", but in case of the Mediterranean or the Baltic Sea we use "Meer". A Meer is much bigger than a Lake ("See") but smaller than an ocean. There are clear definitions. If I stand on the west coast of Ireland, I look over the ocean, on the east coast of GB, I look over the sea.

I have been far too busy of late and haven't caught a Keralis video in a while, and man, that first moment hearing you chatting away warms my heart! @Keralis, you always have the energy and excitement of a kid first getting into a new toy or game, and it's simply lovely that you share that positive vibe with the rest of us! Always keep being you!

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the food stalls in the same place? That way the villagers can do their shopping in a single spot and not waste time walking around. By the way, you can't move the village center once you place it, so you need to make sure to think about placement from the start.
