I don't exactly have the funds for something like it, and I live in a freaking desert so grabbing supplies from a river is not as easy as it sounds. Still I'm glad I can live vicariously through you, and I can't wait to see how the newt paludarium turns out :)

desert scapes could be cool though. ADU aquascaping is doing it. Lack of funds should never stop you. Get more money. I know that sounds easy but it is that simple. Find a way. You sill if you want it enough

I've got a couple nano tanks and am currently (slowly) building up high tech 70 gallon (~264 litter) I just don't have the funds to do an entire fish room/shed filled with multiple large aquariums/paludariums. Or space come to think of it XD "Get more money" You've never lived in a small town in mid-western USA have you :P

This is really rad. Looking at the few forums for the salamander/newt hobby, there just aren't that many people out there making really beautiful naturalistic paludariums for them--which is a shame, because so many species come from just absolutely gorgeous areas that would make fantastic biotopes. MD Fish Tanks I think it crashed when I cleaned the filter all my favourite ones gone the Pygmy hatchet fish and my pea puffer and all my sword tails and guppies over 30 gone over night. A very hard lesson learned

Poor Pumpkin! I have two goldfish that were purchased together one was only slightly bigger than the other I had them in a 20g together while they were small no issues while still small, then moved them to a 30g The big one got huge the small one grew but was no match for him Big would push little's butt around the tank so I just had to separate them eventually. You should definitely get Pumpkin out before she gets sick from stress

Your tanks look so good. Love the H'ra in mikes tank and the soon to be cichlid tank. I also bought an orange koi betta a bit over a week ago but he hasn't been doing well since day 1. He won't eat and spends most of his time resting. Tested the water and all is good so I'm a bit unsure. Other fish at the store had intestinal worms and were quarantined being treated so I'm assuming the same for him unfortunately. Hoping he will push through but I'm not sure he's gonna make it.

betta fish can be very funny things. I've brought some before that have died in days for no apparent reason and then others like mike are completely fine.

@@MDFishTanks Yeah, they seem to be a weird mixture of Hardy and delicate lol. I've had 5 bettas over the years. The first one didn't do so well, but that was more my fault. The next 2 did well living about 2/3 years each and i have 2 now. My halfmoon is doing well and the new one (koi) I have now I think was ill when I bought him. He looks like he may be starting to show signs of dropsy too. Especially sad because he's a very pretty and unusual looking betta. Guess I'll restart and rescape if he doesn't make it....Hope coronavirus doesn't close the aquatic shops 🤣

Just ordered a bunch of millennium stone from Aquarium Gardens, super excited to try and make a scape with it though I'm a little concerned about the glass. What's your stance on using egg crate/polystyrene as a base under the substrate? Do you think it's necessary or not? I noticed you haven't used it for a while, though I can't tell if that's because your tanks are better quality or because you've realised it's redundant. Can't wait to see where this newt tank goes!
