One small suggestion, in videos like this, show what you typed into the store's (amazon's) searchbar, so the viewer has a better idea how the suggestions vary. So e.g. if you typed in pc Power supply, Modular PC Power Supply or 650W power supply. Because for me its not clear if the bigger power supply is just because the system doesn't need as much power and it's just the go to wattage for Amazon or if you got suggested a bigger one then you searched for. Same thing for the higher end motherboard.

This video is why spending even just 15 minutes on the Tom's Hardware GPU Benchmarks Hierarchy page is worth it when doing a cursory search for a new graphics card. The RTX 3060 12GB was a great choice 2 or 3 years ago when it came out based on performance and VRAM amount, but really as of about a year ago, there are better options on the market depending on price and performance preferences if one looks a little bit.

On my current build I spent 250 on mobo(X99)+cpu(14core)+ram(64GB DDR4)+gpu(quadro 8GB vram), just to give an idea on how ridiculous spending over 1000 sounds to me. Of course SATA SSDs or even a one generation (good new market value) will be more popular than the newest/most up-to-date components. These are more typical upgrade parts&paths for existing older machines. Just due to comparability reasons or possible "over-budgeting" in terms of performance, meaning bottle necking. But please correct me if I am wrong here in my analysis! :)

Amazon customer support has gone to complete and total crap in recent years, to the point of being one of the worst (if not the worst). Do not even get me started on talking about the long and arduous process I had to go through to get refunded on a return that they admitted from the start was their fault.

I had that motherboard with the BIOS-es since the beginning of june 2024. Had a 7800X3D in it, *never ever* did I have problems with my Samsung SSD 980 - 1TB drives (or Corsair and Lexar NVME's). The Samsung 980's were my 50GB+ games drives and one of them I used for generative AI. I haven't noticed boot-problems nor other type of problems. All the drives ran the latest FW on them too.

One of the things I've found helpful is if you look at the description of the item under the price, it will let you know if the item is frequently returned, regarles of the star rating. Another good thing I have found is a Firefox feature that will give you a rating of the reviews and let you know if they are legit or fake somehow. Alomst at the end of the video, I guess I did pretty good in picking my parts by hand. Other than the ram and the fact I went with a Coolermaster water cooler, I have the same case, CPU 5700x, GPU 7700xt, and MB. I transferred bot my 2TB WD black NVME drives over from my old PC along with my 16TB 3.5 old school spinner. (my raw data drive). I didn't have any problems with my PSU. But I did install the cables before I put it in.

The channels are on hiatus as addressed by Linus and Luke on WAN show. Speculation is those channels weren't seeing much viewership and it just wasn't worth keeping them going and some staff were let go. The reason why it recommended a SATA SSD is probably compatibility - a lot of folks shopping for *just* an SSD might not have an M.2 on their motherboard if they're upgrading an older system. Amazon has no way of knowing what you'll be plugging it into or that you're building a new system.

Educate yourself: "AMD Zen 4 and Zen 5 CPUs have their thermal target set to 95°C, which means the CPU will boost as much as it can, until it reaches that point, to maximize performance. Unlike on Intel, on AMD it's not possible to increase the 95°C limit."
@MultiMrAsd3 күн бұрын
@@LordManhattan LOL If you CPU hits 93C @45% load it will throttle under full load. It might already do. Just because the part is save to use at that temperature does not mean you should. It will boost less, therefore perform worse and shorten the lifespan of the part.

It's partly AMDs fault that chips go missing at amazon, mainly because it's SUPER easy to slide the plastic tray out of the older Zen1/Zen2 boxes especially on an item that's made the rounds through returns, resell, redistribution. So between employees carelessly throwing the box around and sticky fingers, we'd often get a lot of empty CPU box returns.

While I can understand the complaints about the ssd being sata, personally I can only sing praises of the BX500. We use it at work in almost every modern machine, and that is heavy industrial 24/7 use with high temps and sometimes permanent reading and writing. We had no DOAs so far and some have been even running for just about 6 years now without problems.
@L0tsen3 күн бұрын
The sata drive is probably recommended since you can always slap a sata SSD in a old laptop and make it feel faster. It's also a good storage upgrade for consoles like ps3s and ps4. Many people still rock older hardware and a ssd is always a good upgrade.

@smallbutdeadly9313 күн бұрын
Do note that with the 7700 XT, you should also have access to AFMF 2, which is basically AMD's Driver-level frame gen. It is actually pretty good, as it doesn't significantly reduce latency nor have that much artifacting. I even use it for some games on my 7900 XT when I need that extra little boost in frames to reach my monitor's refreshrate.

All these prices not on sale would have costed about 670 dollars but I managed to get them all for 360 dollars!
