I just built two for myself and a friend. Dimensions I used were: Sides: 11.25 x 0.75 x 25.5 inches Backboard: 11.25 x 0.75 x 49.625 inches Back board is placed 5 inches from the top, 2.5 inches from the back. I used 1 x 12 x 96 inches (nominal) White Wood from HomeDepot. Actual dimensions work out to those above. Cost was about $60.

Can you share an image of the stand? what does this "2.5 inches from the back. " mean?

@Multipleimaging4 жыл бұрын
s13rr4buf3 Hi there, I used 25mm thick mdf window board & had the rounded edge facing front. Two cut at 660mm x 290mm (for the sides), & the back board measures 1265mm x 200mm withe the rounded edge facing upwards. I screwed the side’s into the back board but set it forward slightly to allow for the Yamaha peddles to be screwed to the rear. Hope this helps and thanks again to HJK Music for posting the video.

Great job man! I've watched this video a couple of times and have decided to build one for my P115 as well. Thanks for the great inspiration! Just one question. You used the hinges to firmly connect the piano to the wood right? Would you say that the hinges are a go/no-go kind of thing? Carrying my piano with me to different venues, why I am asking :)
@harmdb59905 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The hinges are not necessary for the piano to stand and be playable. However, they do make the entire thing significantly more rigid and I would say they are definitely worth putting on there since your piano feels a lot safer. Good luck!

Hi. Would you know if the stand and pedal board for the P85 can be used for the P125?
@mikebreler97245 жыл бұрын
Plywood would have been a bit more work to finish the edges but would be about half the weight and stronger with less warp over time. The holes you drilled into the edges will not hold up for long with the torque of the weight if you start moving it. The composite has a tendency to crumple with edge holes under any torque during moving. You could add some strength by installing L brackets on the upper inside corners where least visible. Good video.

MDF is nasty! It has a horrible stench when you cut it that lasts for days.

@harmdb59905 жыл бұрын
Haha, thank you! It is very stable and firm. It is kind of heavy, but that all depends on the kind of wood you use. It is definitely usable for playing at weddings, since I use it for that purpose as well! Greetings from Holland!

Thanks man. I am following your instructions for my Yamaha 125 b. But i Couldn't find the strong big sized connectors u used.. In that case.. Will the gravity centre pressurize the middle of the piano in a bad way?? I am really anxious..U have any suggesions what could i do? And i used Plywood.. Which is not taking color smoothly like your MDF did.. Could u give me any suggesion? Third, what will be hight of the bench if i make that too, just height?? Frankly, thats a lot of questions.. And biggest post may be after a long long time u posted the video..so if u dont reply..... But if u did...that would be a blessing for me. Thanks again man, this is only video and exact video i could find about making a yamaha digital piano stand.. Which is why i could make my own stand. Love and greetings from Bangladesh.❤

Thx for the video, I'm about to build this soon! Did you attach screws into the bottom of your keyboard in order to secure onto the hinges? I'm thinking the keyboard might not stay in place if i just rest it on top of the hinges.
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
No problem! Yes, that is what the hinges are for. They are placed in such a way that I can screw the piano to the stand. The yamaha p115 has holes for screws in the bottom. Good luck to you!

Very good build! I am building one for my new p-45. Did you used 1" wood? because the tichness is 2.5cm in your dimensions.
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын

good job. thanks for sharing. I'm doing the same using your video as tutorial. The piano rests only over the wood? it's mandatory to use the 90º squad/angle (I don't know the correct word in English). thanks
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes the piano rests mainly on the wood, the metal connectors (I think you mean those) are there to attach the piano to the stand. Otherwise it would just lie on top.
@Rus5ell4 жыл бұрын
Don't suppose if anyone knows if the bolts that are used to secure this piano (M5 x 30mm) are the same ones used in most pianos. Is it a standard size or is my piano likely to be different?
@joannalahaye57466 жыл бұрын
Hey, Building one myself thanks to your video. One question, what size hinges did you use to secure the piano to the stand?
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
Hello, that's awesome! The size of the hinges does not really matter, only that it has a 5mm hole that's 50mm from the side of the stand. This will fit the piano. For certainty, I would always advise measuring this yourself, though. Good luck!

Awesome stand. I am doing this as I refuse to pay £100 when the wood cost about £20. Did you use MDF or Plywood. Also what does '2g' mean in the measurement? Does 2g mean 20cm? Also its been about a year since you made this, is your stand still functioning, any issues with stability? Thanks.
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! I used mdf for this stand. Plywood can also be used if you want to, though. The '2g' you're referring to is in fact a 29, I think. This means 29 cm. The stand still works very well after tall this time. I've even disassembled and assembled it a few times and it still fits like a charm. Good luck with building your own stand!

Hi. Do you know if this will work with the p45? 2,5mm mdf? is it the same specs as the yamaha L-85?
@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
Hello, I think it will work with the yamaha p45, since Yamaha sells the same stand for that one and the p115. I would, however, only start building your stand after you've got your p45. The thickness of the mdf is 2,2 cm. I'm sorry I think I made a mistake in the video. Yes, I think this stand has about the same specs as the l-85. It is not exactly the same of course, but quite similar.

Hey, I used leftover wood screws I still had lying around, the size of which depends on the kind of wood you are using. For pre drilling, I recommend drilling the hole a slight bit smaller than your screw so it can bite into the wood really well. Good luck with your stand! Let me know how it turns out!

@harmdb59906 жыл бұрын
Cool! I hope it will turn out well! The hinge is positioned 6,3 cm from the top of the stand. This is because the sides of the piano are 6,3 cm higher positioned than the holes in which you can screw the piano. Also, there is a distance of 8 cm from the front of the stand to the hole in the hinge that fits the piano. It's pretty hard to explain without pictures, but I hope you understand! Good luck!

Is it possible to put castors on the bottom of the stand?
@harmdb59907 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea! Though, I believe it would not be very stable since the piano isn't that wide. You wouldn't want your piano falling over. I doubt you'll even need castors though, since the piano is fairly light and can be easily detached from the stand.
@yashkummar7 жыл бұрын
Hi, the reason I asked was I have a Studio Logic sl 990 / 88 keyboard which is 25kgs. I am trying to put a shelf under the Ikea desk. But due to the weight I have fiddle a lot with drilling and bolting. The next option was to have stand placed lower under the table with wheels so I can pull out when I need to play the keyboard. What do you think?
@harmdb59907 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in that case I think it could work. Again, make sure that your wheels construction is very stable. The piano is probably heavier than the stand so the entire construction can become very prone to falling over if you don't watch out. Good luck! Let me know if you succeed!
