Chris seems to be one of those “very rare” individuals that can see the finished picture in his mind long before the digging begins…he’ll walk a property look at the lay of the land, and get a picture in his mind of how it should look when he’s done!! Hell of a contractor…Dirt Perfect (Mike) is the same type of guy….very few of them!! Enjoy watching them work, hope they don’t get fed up with the KZbin process cause we enjoy watching them work!!!

When you obtained some of your older equipment, I was wondering how much serious use they would get. Was I ever wrong! Not counting the dragline, which we know was a hobby purchase, but the rest, like the track loader and D6, have proved to be highly useful additions to the fleet. I love how you look after and maintain your equipment, in stark contrast to the barely running rubbish that Andrew Camarata has collected. I used to think how luck your uncle John was to have you, but between John and your grandfather, you served an invaluable dirt moving apprenticeship that has enabled you to undertake huge projects. Some of them being quite technical in nature, and generating an income that has enabled the extraordinary growth of your company. I wonder if you'll take on a junior Chris Guins in the future, and pay forward the immense knowledge base you have accumulated, and it's all the more amazing considering how young you still are.

You are dead on accurate about Andrew Camarata. The way he treats his equipment is outrageous. Then again it's his so he can do whatever he pleases with them. Personally I wouldn't let him operate my lawnmower by the way he abused that new zeroturn mower he got.

When loading the dump truck with the track loader, can you just open the bucket to empty it? Kind of like a clam shell bucket. It works fairly well with a 4 way bucket on a mini track loader. Not sure if it would empty the bucket faster.

We have a 4-way bucket on our backhoe at work. The reason you don't open the bucket to dump is it won't dump as far into truck. As you curl the bucket out to dump, you actually gain reach. The tracked loader Chris has doesn't look like it has very long reach into the box of the off road truck. Dumping the way you suggest would dump the dirt closer to the side of the truck. There is also the issue of making sure you get the bucket closed back all the way. Personally, I'm not a fan of 4 way buckets.

Curiosity: I've watched a few videos of you loading with a 4-in-1 bucket and always see you tipping it, then trying to shake out the remainders. Is there a reason you don't just drive it out over the tray and open the bucket? (Looks like you have the forward space to do it). I may be missing something from the video angles but that is how I found it to work best from my minimal experience. Side note: I have worked with/around a fair number of "operators/contractors" who have not understood all the functions on their machine. Obviously you don't fit that list so I'm curious as to why you don't use the clamshell function more for loading

As mentioned by others (this question is asked each night) it’s inefficient to load that way - it all goes to the load side of the truck - it’s simple geometry - note at 4:10 how the product centers in the bed using Chris’s current method. “Dropping” from the face of the clamshell and you lose a few feet of placement, can’t “fling” the dirt, and it doesn’t fill the bed effectively/efficiently
