Been building rustic birdboxes of found materials and wood for years. Thanks for the idea of the brad nailer, which I now have and love - mine a little bigger and heavier, but wonderful device. Have to confess the music almost made me quit a couple times. Muzak x 2. Bird boxes are wonderful creative outlets when you live in the country and have lots of material!

Birdhouse was really clever. I’m going to try to make one. Liked your freehand drawing of the house. Great idea!! as for the music, yeah it was a little annoying, but anybody working with saws and blades, and moving machines, also know how to mute the sound.
@DaveLife14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I did make a “hinged” bottom by fitting a single angled piece inside of the bottom. The “hinges” are a single brad nail either side of one end and a bent finish nail as a latch at the other end of the bottom piece. Pull and twist the nail and the bottom becomes a trap door to clean out the previous year’s nest. Cheers.

I am new at bird houses and am wondering if a perch is or is not standard for bird houses?
@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
Brian, Good Question, some birds require and some do not..usually individuals will not put a perch on houses for smaller birds because they don't need a perch to land it would provide a larger bird to land and possibly cause issues for the babies or smaller bird. I really don't have a problem with other birds. I have a house that the sparrows are using and I added a perch so I could film the mother feeding the babies.. I have a video on my channel showing that... when I didn't have the perch she land in the hole and you could see the feedings...I was able to get some good video with the perch. Thanks for watching the video and if you have any other questions, please let me know. Very important to have a clean out... on this house I ended up replacing the nails in the bottom with 4 screws so I could take the bottom off at the end of the season and clean it out. Have an awesome day.

I put in two nails in the back of the floor on either side as a hinge. One nail in the front to keep it from opening. Just put the front nail out, floor swings open and just let the old nest drop out. I call it, "swing and clean." I sell a lot of houses.@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors

@leefury75 жыл бұрын
If it is an "antiqued" house, I will use an old, shortened, rusty nail for a pull tab. But I still have another means for locking the either the floor or a side from opening. You need a pull tab because sometimes with age and moisture, the wood expands and doesn't swing open as easily. ALWAYS use spar urethane on exterior but never on the inside. Little birds will peck at the interior. Don't give them any finish to peck off. @@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors

Greetings dear Mark, thank you for your time. I wish you all the best. Also, we strive to safeguard human rights around the world. We cover many stories which others don't talk about, including the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. These innocent people live by the principles of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance but have been persecuted since 1999. This video we created is among many efforts to raise awareness. Please watch this video when you get a chance. Feel free to share it with other people. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZqzXmiDm6Zkg80 Thank you. Have a great day. Best regards, Vladimir

Except for that annoying racket AKA music, this was pretty cool. The racket degraded the entire presentation.

Oh my god, who ever cleans out a bird house once it's up? They are functional ornamentation. The dozen bird houses we have in our yard get used every year and we never clean them out. Look at how many nests get used year after year. Case closed.

The music is distracting and also keeps me from hearing what you are saying. Why do you think we need to hear twangy guitar red neck music while watching your work?
@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors6 ай бұрын
Because I kept getting comments that the other music was horrible and to change it, but once posted u can’t change so I lowered old track and put new one over. I took it off now, see how it is. That was one of the first videos I ever did and was new to posting. But thanks for watching.

@@MarksWorld-GetOutdoors sorry for the complaining, it is good you tried to make it better. You seem like a very good person, and honest. I hope you make some good money from your efforts.
