As someone who loves watching content from the school of wooden boat building (NWboatschool) and Sampson boat co it was super fun to watch a more loose and smaller take on boat building! I would love to hear a boat builders take on this and what they would do differently, but I also think that this is a good testament to how even very complicated projects can be tackled when you have a progress over perfection mindset. Great work so far and looking forward to part 2!

Hey fellas, well done! You started the idea well, the spine is called a keel. And yes the best way is to build off the keel out and up. What term your looking for is a shipwright (wooden + sail ships) vs ship builder (steel) i know, i was a shipbuilder once.

Michael I loved this colab with Jason. I’ve been waiting for it since before Covid, he mentioned possibly doing a project with you. It was really interesting seeing the same content from 2 different creators point of view/style. I don’t wanna hurt Jas-uh-er-um anyone’s feelings but I was surprised which video I liked more given the same lighting, setting, sound, project, tools, etc, and just the story, voice over, film editing, etc to set them apart. I worked for a very high end sailboat builder for a decade. I didn't really pay attention to the names of the parts, but I do remember 'stem to stern' and 'frames' or 'stations". The guy doing the stem spent a lot of time kind of winging it, or that's what it looked like to me. We didn't use nails, just epoxy. But I am really enjoying watching you building your boat. When do you get to the sanding part?

Your transom should have been two laminated 3/4" ply. It will work the way it is..but over time, that is a weak point in your design. Chines are the point where the sides of the boat meets the hull. It's a profile term rather than a part. Fun build!
@bikergirl20003 жыл бұрын
7:23 a boatbuilder lofts their design. That means they draw it full size on the floor and fiddle with the lines until they look right. Your jig would be called a strong strongback. Boatbuilding lingo isn't that hard really!
