The real pain is shift crafting a bunch of iron bars when you just needed like 4. and personally..... Spruce and dark oak logs have always looked the best with building. to me mixing those with cobble or mixed colored stone bricks and andesite just makes everything mesh perfectly

I also like sometimes using mud bricks for roofing or foundations if I'm going for a more rustic look, since it also goes really well with spruce & the darker woods in general. Spruce & Dark Oak also tends to be my preferred wood palette (unless I'm just using oak) and part of that I think is that the doors and trapdoors work well in building.
