I'm looking forward to seeing how you tackled the neck pocket. Its the one part that has stopped me from attempting one of these.

You can always call me for advice on metal fabrication!

Zach!!!! Dang, how did I not even think to get your input, I guess I'm getting old. Maybe I can talk you into tig welding one of these for me so we can see how that sounds. I can tig weld but I tig weld like a wood worker... you know, not that great.

Hello, what is the exact thickness of the sheet metal for the guitar, I mean the box-case of the guitar?
@Ninety2guits Жыл бұрын
The original top I started with in episode 1 was 28 gauge, which I learned was way too thin. You'll see in later episodes I switched to 20 gauge and so far it's working really well.

@@Ninety2guits Do you think it is good and enough to put around for the case 2mm sheet metal?
@Guitars-KiD Жыл бұрын
@@Ninety2guits You think that 1 mm sheet is thin, so you suggest to use 2 mm? And one more question. Is the sheet ordinary black steel or is it stainless steel or something similar?
@mikecolumna2 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but I believe most resonators are stamped out with an industrial press. Perhaps if you carved a mold you could hammer the sheet of steel into it?
@kentl7228 Жыл бұрын
Metal spinning for cones and stamping, I would think. Plus, some bodies are made from brass, nickel plated and then bead blasted through a stencil to get the palm tree pictures etc. From what I understand.

Amazing work man. what gauge of sheet you used?
@Ninety2guits2 жыл бұрын
I'm using 28 gauge for the top and if you jump ahead to episode 4 you will see that becomes a problem. I have switched to 20 gauge steel now.

Great video, thank you. How thick is the sheet of metal you used please. Thank you
@Ninety2guits Жыл бұрын
Thank you. On this episode 1 it was 28 gauge and it was way too thin, you'll see it failed around episode 5. If you are going to build one watch the series, particularly the episode where I cover costs. I give a lot of detail and info that will help if you are going to build one.
