With the commodores you just have to turn the key a bit further to unlock them 😂 there's a mechanical section of the lock that allows you to unlock them when the battery dies

Benny bit late now, but with the standard VLSD you can add a shim to make it act like a welded diff. Luke Fink has a video on here showing how to do it. When you got the diff back in, how did it sound? I messed up the backlash on mine and it was knocking like crazy, had to leave it with somebody to get it sorted.

Absolutely another banger upload, use to weld my diffs up 10+ years ago on my old Mazda 1300 when you could find parts for them just use to weld the spider gears without pulling it all apart, man what trip down memory lane

An easier thing than a window smash would be getting a jumper cable onto the starter solenoid or alternator output terminal from under the car.

Protip for locked out with a dead battery, jack the car up and try to reach the positive terminal on the starter or alternator with the jumper cables.

If you want to tighten the parking brake, on the rear backing plate close to where the parking cable goes in to the shoes there’s a rubber grommet usually. Pop that out and there’s a star wheel in there you can tighten or loosen the rear parking shoes. Good luck mate

You can actually get Performance brake shoes for the rear for your handbrake. And for future reference. I would highly suggest going to a welded vlsd. Out of the four years my brother has owned his z. He has broken more axles and more open diffs than I can count on my hand. Plated or not. Welded vlsd hold up much stronger than an open differential when welded. I've seen tested and welded a few of them myself. The differential in my G has lasted over 2 years on the same 235k axles and vlsd weld. Not a single problem with the rear end

next time to open commodore you can open bonnets by pulling the latch cable from under the front bar. also to break windows get a old spark plug and break the porcelain off and get a piece and chuck it at window which will pop it instantly.

I think you also need to cut wire 27 (or 23 cant remember but should be in the forum) to the back of the ecu and modify the abs fuse . Clipping the wire will let you foot brake whilst accelerating and abs on is bad for drifting

Idk about that model but with the vy commodore you can reach under the front bumper and pull the cable yourself to pop the bonnet.

best to spend the $ now on hydro for drift breaking cause e brakes arent meant for it. one day at the track and your e brake line will be stretch and or snapped and you'll have to replace it anyway. if the e-brake isnt working on the street at low speed well now, it wont work at the track anyway for long. every build I watch tries to get away without a hydro brake at first and ALWAYS regrets it later.
