Hi Robin. Been a fan for a very long time now - back in the old skill builder days was where i first saw your stuff. Anyway, I'm a big admirer of your work, your attention to detail and your imagination and creativity too. I'm sure this project will be well worth watching. Cheers for sharing and for taking the time to film what you do.

Robin if you haven't already the tour through Salisbury Cathedrals roof and up into the internals of the spire is incredible. Well worth a visit for anyone but especially if you're a carpenter it's pretty incredible. I installed a fixed access line right to the top of the spire up inside and the woodwork holding the internals together is bonkers. It looks a bit more like it it's grown into place rather than been cut together.

That tour sounds amazing, I'm going to go!!

This will be amazing.. the churches in your area are very different to those we have in Northumberland. Have visited the church in Shere which is lovely. Always liked the lynch gate roofs at then entrances too Where they rested the coffins if raining I understand. Wish I had some of your energy!

Surely with your skill you could go nuts, I see the school of stereotomy feature online a lot look amazing. I see yours will be in keeping with regional design which would be good. Also for a day out I recommend the weald and down museum, which have a lot of traditional properties from your area. A lot of carpentry skill and historical information about building in your area, and a famous oak barn. Shall look forward to seeing what you do.

Sounds great Robin, I hope you go with the Shingles, they'll be perfect in the semi-woodland setting and soften the whole appearance ! I will be watching with interest as I'm planning a structure for my front garden and it'll have to have a roof as otherwise it'll just be a poop perch for the local pigeons - not great for the front path !

Nice Robin. I look forward to the series. You'll make a spectacular job of it as always. As for the roof covering, cedar gets my vote. However it's great to see you looking around at local precedents and taking inspiration from there and maybe that will lead you down a different path. On that, maybe the dual pitch is the golden nugget rather than the pitch itself. Great all round considerations of situation, planning, design and carpentry all coming together though. Top job.
