Here I’m adding vertical milling capability to my home-built lathe, again using mostly stuff from the local industrial scrap yard. A rather non conventional design, but for its compact size I think still a nice result. It's powered by a 500W DC motor, with home-build speed controller. The Mill chuck is in line with the lathe chuck centerline and able to move vertically and horizontally for milling slots. Thanks to the many KZbin videos on machining, I was able to quickly get familiar with some milling techniques.
You can find the design files like 3D CAD drawings, electrical schematics and microcontroller firmware files on my website page: www.simprojects...

Awesome build! You have an impressive understanding of machining, electronics and programming along with a jaw dropping level of creativity. If you ever desire to increase the rigidity of your machines, I would look at using epoxy granite. It's far more rigid than traditional cast iron and much easier to work with.
