Professional looking track that shows your woodworking & carpentry skills. It doesn't look home-grown at all to me. The final details you have planned are only more frosting on the cake. I'm sure it will provide you & your friends hours of enjoyment. I like your fact that you set a budget & came in well under it. There are a number of small ovals up here in New England, but none are local.

Quick, cheap and easy “guard rail” suggestions for your curves: 1. Foam weather strip with the tape on the backing , easy to mask off and spray paint (easiest). 2. Alternatively, in the same section at Lowe’s or Home Depot , window and door weather strip. A better profile for the guardrails and more realistic but a bit trickier to mask off and paint . Either way both are very soft, perfect for protecting the cars. Paper straws can be used in the same fashion for the straightaways. Bonus with the paper straws - over time they will “dent” adding a bit of realism to your layout. The 2 inch foam weather strip can also be used to model the concrete barriers used at some tracks and will look good with some signage glued on.

Ride on, Marty. Looking mighty good! Are you familiar with door, or window seallings made of rubber, that have two, or three half-tubes, so no wind will come through the slots of them? Those could be a good barrier, if cars deslot. Those seailings have a sticking surface in the back and they would prevent damage from the cars, while deslotting. Some over here use them as barriers. Good job my friend 🙂

Each driver has a stint in each different lane ...then after the races it's all totted up on the computer so it's all very fair .actually during the racing it's also visible on a tv screen how the drivers total laps are going over the total race duration 🤗
