Excellent work on the Albion Dory - the video, for us, was a very professional, well thought out narrative that we found very educational. Your video will be a good reference for us as we start to build our Albion 19 foot Dory starting in mid-April (2019) in our back yard. We will be documenting our effort on the Wooden Boat website starting with site planning for the strongback. Thanks again for such an entertaining and instructive video - hope you have a safe passage, every day. Joe and Tere

That boat is super stable and durable 100 % because of many solid wood frame that supporting the bottom floor but the disadvantage i guess is the weight , it needs 2 to 3 person to lift it .. very good carpentry works ..

On my bucket list so to speak. I like the design. Have some study prints from Spira. Will use the boat in both the great lakes and intercostal in NC. What engine set-up are you going with?

My son and I are in process of building one of Jeff’s designs. We will begin a different boat as soon as this one is finished. Watching someone else’s process is certainly helpful. Sure would have been nice, however, if you had allowed enough time to read your captions.

What boat did you and your son build? I wanted to build Jeff’s Carolina dory but he passed away and his plans are no longer available so I’m trying to find something similar from another designer. I waited to long to order the plans and now Jeff and all of his work are gone he was a great guy and will be missed by a world of people. Thanks

Hello; I spoke with Jeff just before his death very sad,. He was very nice to me. Answered all my questions. Before I could buy one of his plans he was gone. Anyone know where I could get a set of the Albion?

Sweet little boat. Just checked outSpira international boat designs. Hope to build same for Tomales Bay in N Cal. Its a protected bay that holds halibut & dungeoness crab. For offshore Im considering their 23 ft offshore dory or the 24 ft cruiser but this 1 is perfect for the bay. How do you like it & may I ask how it handles in rougher chop? Thx.

That's the whole point of Pacific Power Dories - they use them on the Oregon Coast where chop is king.

My only concern is that the sides of the hull aren't high enough, remember lots people every year are thrown out of there boats because of freeboard issues. Beware.
@tjkid073 жыл бұрын
I've been at sea for many decades, thousands of days, in all sorts of weather conditions in boats with very low freeboard and have never been thrown out of a boat. There have been three hundred of this design, and have 1000 of my similar designs with similar freeboard in waters all over the world, from Iceland to Tasmania used in all sorts of sea, bay, lake, and river conditions and I've never heard of anyone being thrown out. I think what you should beware is drinking too much before and during using any boat no matter how high the sides are.
