You mention rain water - though I have not worked with Japanese Cypress wood before, I could imagine rain and the elements in general would quickly degrade the surface of the wood, making it rough and splintery - this is what always happens to my outdoor wood, no matter how much oil I apply. It would not be smooth for long. What are you expectations here?
@nougatbitz
@nougatbitz Жыл бұрын
And having it near pool later on, kids won’t wear thick cotton trousers sliding this down while the slide and it’s coating will get drenched a lot… I am skeptical how long this will last.. maybe a year until the surface degrades. Indoors would be a different story I would think.

Japanese cypress is water-resistant enough to be used in bathtubs, and at the same time it is an excellent building material that is also insect repellent. The bathroom made entirely of Japanese cypress smells great and I love it. Horyuji, the world's oldest wooden building, is also made of Japanese cypress. The downside is that it is expensive, but I think the 'syoyan' master carpenter chose the best wood for outdoor use.

Flat grain rather than vertical grain on the slide surface boards is not something I would do with any wood species I'm familiar with using. Maybe the wood used here will never move and have a splinter issue, could be as I'm not familiar with it's properties. Here in the States there is good reason we use a thin sheet of stainless steel for slides, also many polymer materials are use in playground equipment.

I have to ask: your hammer has one point in the back. In north america, hammers have two "ears" that allow you to use them like a crobar, to pull nails out. What is the ficntion of the one "horn" or point in the back?
