that moment when it goes from being a collection of aluminum, steel and fiberglass parts you've spent so much time putting together to...an AIRPLANE! great video The RV grin is real!

I want to build a -7 so bad I was in tears even before the first flight. You two looked like you had so much fun through the whole process!

Congrats man. A lot of work, time and sweat goes into the first flight. The 8 was my first choice but wife didn't like back seat. Building a Mustang II, look forward to first flight myself, someday. Enjoy.

Music is "Smoothie Song" by Nickel Creek. A top notch "Newgrass" band. They've gone separate ways now, but the Mandolin player, Chris Thile still has a successful solo career.

@tom110111 I have a fair amount of tailwheel time, but since RVs are not really rough field machines, I couldn't see the point of having a tailwheel. I'm satisfied I made the right choice for me. If I build a bush plane, it will have the small wheel in back.

WOW! Thats an awesome plane you've built! How long did it take for you to build and how much did it cost you? By the way I am viewer 5001! P.S (Nice Cat)

Very nice, how did you decide on the tricycle gear vs. tail dragger?

Fantastic job on your build! Glad to see you flying out of AEG! I'm in RR and would like to meet you to discuss your build and your decision on building an 8 versus other models. Are you a member of the local EAA chapter?

BTW, good news... Nickel Creek is back together, and put out a new album last month. Just bought their whole catalog, based on the strength of "Smoothie Song" featured on this video. Thanks for turning me on to them...

Great video. If you dont mind my asking ( and sorry if this is too personal ) how much would you estimate this total build cost, from kit to first tank of gas? A lot of folks say its cheaper to build than buy and I'm curious if it's true... thanks.

Ha, Jason, I'm following your build progress and just stumbled by accident upon this old comment of yours. Way to go ;-)
how much did this kit wind up costing? from start to finish?

Cant understand why someone would put a nose wheel on this aircraft. Not saying its ruined. Its a lovely aircraft but in my opinion, the Pros of a taildraggar outweigh the cons. If there is any. More prop clearance, less drag, higher speed, lower costs, easy maintenance, less failures, easier to maneuver the a/c on the ground into hangars. Plus if an oleo fails its likely the aircraft could be written off. The tail-wheel on my cub hasn't been changed since the 1960's.

Well done but I just don't get it why people ruin the Vans look by making it like a Cherokee! RV's are meant to be mean, sleek & a mans plane:-):-)
