Probably the best homemade rack system I’ve seen so far on KZbin. Major props man.

I’m building mine now, prefer the aluminum frame to the melamine. This was so thorough. Greatly appreciate it. Thank you

where did you buy the plastic corner pieces?
@SplicedSerpents3 жыл бұрын
I got them from the metal supplier. I think it was Metals4U - there's also an Amazon link on my hatchling rack build video, but they cost about twice as much on there.

Very nice and clean. One thing I'd point out - for those who don't need it to be able to breakdown - is that you can save some steps (and a few dollars) by riveting the drawer slides directly to the vertical rails. I'd definitely leave the back removable, though. Overall, it's a great build.
@SplicedSerpents Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the feedback. Riveting would be save a little bit money and it would make the build a little quicker.

Banging that was my plan but got shut down because of the virus got a new welder to do it and make the same sort but with out the plastic corners got the welder but payed for the steel and got text 2 months later to say on holiday due to virus but banging rack fella
@SplicedSerpents3 жыл бұрын
Thanks - I went with the plastic corners so it can be taken apart if I need to move - I was planning on moving before the rona hit... still waiting. Good luck with the build if it ever happens!

This is fantastic. All my racks are melamine and heavy. I'd like to get my hands on the plans to see what I can do here! Great job!!

Thanks. I've been struggling to find time to do anything since the lockdown ended, but I'm hoping to finish the plans this weekend. I'll post them on here as soon as they're done.

@@SplicedSerpents Even if you can give the thickness of the aluminum shelves and the name of that tool...I can start pricing things out. And wait patiently...lol
@SplicedSerpents4 жыл бұрын
@@don-peartreepythons9222 the Ali is 1.5mm thick on the shelves and 0.9mm on the back. The frame is all 25mm x 25mm x 1.5mm square tube. The tool is a blind rivet nut gun. Mine is 12" cheap Chinese brand, but it gets the job done.

Nicest DIY rack I've seen! It looks like a pro kit you may have bought! What brand are the connectors? Like to see if I can find them here in the states!
@SplicedSerpents3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The connectors weren't branded, but I found these: eztube.com/product-category/connectors/3-way-connectors/ If you search 3-way square tube connectors you may find something locally.

Great video mate any chance of how much did it cost in materials I'm interested in seeing you do a hatchling rack or a rodent breeding rack
@SplicedSerpents3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. If cost about £380 with the heat cable and thermostat. I'll be doing a hatchling rack soon.
@andreasc95704 жыл бұрын
Awesome rack! I came here looking for racks with metal shelves and to my surprise you used a heating wire which is also what I'm going to use. In my case the wire needs to be on the shelves (or secured below it so that the shelve itself acts like a heat mat). My concern is that the metal shelf might conduct the heat to most of its surfice and affect the gradient inside the tub. Will that be the case?
@SplicedSerpents4 жыл бұрын
I just posted a video answering this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6WofYVugLOShc0 I don't think you will have a problem getting a good gradient, but I would run a basic test as shown in the video linked above. You should be able to get the perfect temps.
