Hello Farm Family. Thank you for joining us for another upload. The work on a homestead never stops but we love it. Directly off of the road from the Alabama Homesteaders Meet & Greet at Petals From The Past, we jumped right into our next project...an Aviary for our Peafowl Elvis (Peacock) & Priscilla (Peahen). This build will more than triple the space of the current home so we are excited to get it under way. Per usual, Natalie & I have a plan which typically makes it easy to execute...but things don't always go as planned.

Hello everyone - had the question of why not free range the Peafowl come up so our thought process is below. Thank you all for the support & loving messages: Our eventual goal is to free range our Peafowl 🦚. With them being newer to our property & area it is crucial that they are provided a safe & enclosed space to get to know that our property is home & that we provide & care for them or else they will just fly away to their old farm. By having them in the aviary we can accomplish that. Also - I recently confirmed that in the land around us there are at minimum 4 wild peacocks & 3 wild peahens. The fear is that during breeding season Elvis may leave the farm to “protect” his property or the 4 wild peacocks will come to our property to either protect their perceived territory &/or attempt to mate with Priscilla. We feel confident that at minimum once Elvis & Priscilla have some chicks, those will be free range as the only property they will know is ours.

First time viewer from the Cog. Living in Minnesota, still watching snow melt. Seriously, the longest winter ever.😭 Before I watched KZbin, I lived in my own little bubble. Anything south of Iowa was a foreign country. 😬 And if I crossed an ocean, scary! Now I realize just how decent and "normal" most people are, wherever they are. We all have hopes and dreams, want to do what's best for our family, look out for our friends and neighbors. we've all dumped a can of paint or done something just as frustrating. I love watching normal people doing normal things. Keep up the good work!😎🤗 And you southerners have the best accents. And i might be slightly jealous of the green grass and being able to plant things in the winter. But you can keep the snakes, alligators and heavy humidity. 😉

As you start to free range your peacocks always keep there feed in there housing area and at night gently put them up into there area and lock them in. By doing so if you ever need to treat them you will have an area to catch them. My peacocks are addicted to meal worms and that is what I give them every night as a treat so I find they are waiting for me at feeding time to come and feed them. Also during breeding season keep them in so they will nest and hatch there babies in safety. Nice area for them!

Just found your channel today, when it popped up ….because i watch several similar channels…you have such a beautiful property. You were talkimg about the sandy soil….you could sure grow some awesome strawberries. I live in WV, and some of the best strawberries I’ve ever eaten were from a farm im Florida, who would travel here deliver and sell…I would buy them when they came an parked outside the hospital I worked at. That's going to look nice. I like the white paint so much better than letting the wood age naturally as it just looks "old" at some point. I would have given up on the pump and grabbed a brush.
