This table arrived well packaged and on time. kzbin.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

Beautiful! To all the folks saying it “would be hard to clean”.... why? It would actually be EASIER than a standard aquarium... it’s lower to the ground and you can access the entire surface easily. It would be a joy to clean compared to some of my tanks! Great job, man... truly beautiful.

Nice build! One thing to consider is that those caster wheels you have it sitting on are a very small surface area, meaning that the entire weight of the tank (water + substrate + construction materials) (about 400 kg) is localized at a small point of contact. If the wheels are uneven then a majority of the weight could be sitting on one or two wheels. Probably not an issue if the support board the caster wheels are mounted to is solid wood, but something like mdf might shear under those conditions, causing the wheel assembly to puncture through the material and likely break the glass above.

I think your tank is awesome and yes, the silicone that holds the glass is enough for the tank inself. However, the base "platform" should have some solid legs extending to the floor IMO, not just casters that are probably screwed in with relatively short screws correct? I suppose if the whole thing sits stationary, there is no danger but if one were to roll it and a caster became encumbered, the screws could possibly tear right out of the wood base and become compromised...

LED lights are used among aquascapers a lot. The essential things are the shade of the light and the quantity. And as Abigail said, there are plants that can grow in an aquarium with out any additional lighting except daylight (although you won't be seeing much of your aquarium without lights).

Only tiny screws could have been used to fit them so there is a real danger they will buckle with the sideways force when trying to move it. 4 or 9 wheels will make no difference. A domino effect will ensue 😱

Krista M yeah, a litre of water weighs about 1 kg, there must be 200litres of water in there plus the weight of the glass. No way can this be wheeled around the floor when full, not on those castors

I wonder how much does everything cost. Glass alone was expensive
@GregMakesThings5 жыл бұрын
2000€ including all powertools. Glass could've cost 250 only but I made a mistake which cost me 400 (so 650 total) ! (Bought tempered glass instead of regular, and made mistakes on the dimensions)
@samueldeter97355 жыл бұрын
@@GregMakesThings then what was so expensive? The glass was less than 30%?

If the wood at the bottom warps at all, the acrylic will be at risk of shattering.

Mariner Madness I know, but if the wood below the glass bends the bottom glass could completely shatter.

I'm worry about the tiny wheels breaking to the water weight, but you can always repair, so just enjoy things do worry about what might happan. Great Job!!!

Cool idea. Just a word of caution... you may want to consider adding some additional support under the table. Those wheels looked like they were rated for about 100 lbs (could be wrong). Not sure how many gallons that aquarium is but looks to be around 80... that’s about 650 lbs just in water not including weight of glass and table. You could be pushing 750 lbs with that 😳. I could be off with my visual estimate of how big that aquarium actually is but just thought I’d throw that out there, food for thought. Love the concept and this got me excited about the tank I’m setting up right now. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing tank beautiful I think I'm gonna try and build one I would love one of those in my TV room
@BeIlows5 жыл бұрын
The wheels will be this tanks failing point going forward. There's way too much weight on something that looks like a max of 20-40kgs each.
@chloev96674 жыл бұрын
This was what I was thinking, its going to bow thanks to the pressure on 4 small wheels and then the glass will give way. Even a tiny difference in a shelf or unit can cause a tank to shatter... People greatly underestimate the weight of water in a tank
@michaelmeyers17995 жыл бұрын
Ok, I do think it looks cool. However, how do you not bang on the top of the coffee table setting stuff down. I mean light tapping on glass sends sound waves through an aquarium. Imagine a coffee cup getting smacked on the aquarium every day. They are like the poor fish at petco with the incessant tapping. I dunno just seems unnecessary stress.

did you not watch the part where he added damping for the vibrations from the glass? Not sure how effective it is but still
@CudlyCuthbert5 жыл бұрын
I agree, they are living animals, not ornaments. I doubt that adding that damping will make any difference with the noise and vibrations.
