The wiring diagram indicates the load should be on Phase A and Phase C for 2-Pole application. You installed the conductors on Phase A and Phase B. NEC Table 250.122 - Grounding on the load side. You should have a #6 copper equipment grounding conductor attached to all metal enclosures, including the cover. I don't know your entire circuit application. Is this a separately derived service? If so, #6 is also required for bonding jumpers. NEC Article 110 - Identify and label your equipment. You know what it does, but the fire department doesn't. You are attempting to make this a clean and safe installation, good for you. I would put grounding your enclosures at the top of the list (regarding safety). The NEC and AHJ would't approve Raceway sizes, equipment fill, separated conductors, etc. Yes, this application will work. No, it wouldn't pass an electrical inspection with the configuration in the video. This is my first visit to your channel. I'll subscribe and see what I can learn. Thanks for sharing and be careful.

Ideal makes an awesome carbide hole saw kit for easy punching up to 1" or 1.25.. Comes with 4 sizes and a box. It throws a lot of chips you have to control well but it is the best and fastest hole punch I have seen.

yeah, no. you want that thing in a proper 200A rated panel enclosure, with a door, also rated for the full fault current. when a breaker goes badly wrong, it explodes; we don't call them dead fronts for nothing.

@@wim0104 I dont think so, these breakers are meant to be mounted on flat panels or on DIN rails, so this is not problem. But even other things, as you already mentioned, are. This video is only good looking, with full of faults, that could lead to disaster, fire or another emergency. Wrong screw and nut material, wrong wiring..

Grade 8 bolts are typical for high stress. Not sure why a breaker box would need them. Seems excessive and not even in a good way. I would imagine if you want better conductivity then plated or solid copper bolts would be better.

Beware Several code violations Single conductors run through ferrous materials, box, connectors and lock rings with create eddy currents and heat Box fill?? Clearly not enough space or any cancelations done for wire size I think a more interesting video would be to get a ir camera and show what happened when something is installed like this

We’re on DC. No eddy currents ;) Space is probably a fair call.

anyone know of a shunt trip breaker for higher voltages 400v?
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar Жыл бұрын
This breaker is good for up to 500V, but please note that the higher voltages may require specific wiring instructions, such as wiring poles in series. You can check the manual, which can be found easily online.

Noark also makes MCCB breakers that you can get brand new for about 3x the cost of these used ones. Still a lot cheaper then a new ABB breaker.

Ive seen where a single positive is supposed to loop through all 3 poles of this breaker, of so, this isnt safe to disconnect under load.......what happened to your 18650 cells modules? Seems you deleted them but they are still very worthy for education. I have over 78kwh in lithium ion, its fine when precautions are taken place.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar Жыл бұрын
The 3 pole wiring method is for 500-750VDC. Only 2 poles are required for under 500VDC. I'm nowhere near 500VDC so I opted to use 1 pole. Yes, you can conclude that, technically speaking, I'm not using it per the manufacturer's intent.
@LithiumSolar

Also yes, I got rid of the 18650s. That was a fun project but I would never do it again primarily due to safety and time requirements.

Zinc coated screw in copper busbar is big no-no, considering also the current going through that switch, you made one big galvanic cell. Use stainless screws and nuts! Also, according to specs of SACE S3 , 200 A rating is max for AC, you should really look up the technical sheet for this product. And, in 0:29, there is even wiring diagram for DC application on the side of the breaker.... Really dangerous information given in this video.
@LithiumSolar
@LithiumSolar Жыл бұрын
Oooo interesting point. I hadn't even considered that as I was more focused on trying to find 8.8's. I'll have to see if I can find some stainless - thanks!

@@LithiumSolar how many Amps are going through that breaker and what should be fault switching current? There is reason for DC wiring like on the picture itself, as you should know. You cant use it this way, it could be really dangerous, this breaker should not serve as Y-split. When using DC circuit breaker, you should disconnect BOTH minus and plus connectors at the same time, battery/panels etc, load or source. Sorry, but you are using it wrong and not according to manufacturing specification .

@@dennishegg6025 Whatever, you understood what I meant. If your breaker trips or your fuse blows often, your installation sucks. I gave the reason: fuses are much cheaper, a breaker is over the top. If someone wants a breaker, fine. I am just wondering why as a fuse works well and is much cheaper.
