Would it be a good idea to have water with soap inside the container so the beetles drown quickly? How long does it take for the beetles to die in the container?

Not sure how long it takes the to die. The inside of the can gets pretty hot in the sun. If you are to put water in the can to drown them you would have to refrain from drilling holes in the bottom. Such a course would ensure that water collects in the can and results in an suncooked beetle soup. I am pretty sure I have absolutely no interest in finding out what that would smell like.

Drill a smaller hole on top and then screw the yellow piece onto the lid. You don't need a 4" hole.

Not sure I get what you mean. The trap wasn't threaded.

@@DWBoyd2011 The trap had a ridge that you could have put two screws through to attach it to the pail top.

You can see the bait at 6:30 in the video. The rigid traps came with one bait each and you can get additional bait/lures from the same place you get the rigid traps.This os one site that has the traps, but they are pretty pricey so you might have to do a bit more searching to find a better price.
