I first came on this channel because I thought you were going to build a Yurt, good Lord man you are building a Yurt shaped HOUSE! 10 times the work. You and your wife have really worked hard! You deserve a beautiful home like this. Great Job!

+Hilden Johns It is true that it is a yurt shaped house and a lot of work. Thanks for the comment.

This has become one of my favorite channels. I watch a couple of other 'watch us build our house' channels and they end up being disappointing in one way or another. But you guys are doing your thing with grace and humility and letting us come along.

+Eric Zasadil Hey thanks. We do our best I'm glad it comes across that way. Thanks for the feedback and we will do our best to keep it up.

Love your video's you guys, great job on your first drywall adventure. Taping and texturing is a pain staking job that requires a lot of patience, but again you guys did great.

Great video (again). I'm so glad I discovered your channel way back when you were first getting started - it would be a totally different experience if I had the option to just binge watch (Ala Netflix) your videos. I thought the filming and editing of this video was the best yet - its great to see you experimenting with different angles and shots with your videos. I can't wait to see the final video with you sitting back in your finished home with a beer/wine/whatever and reminiscing on the journey. All the best, Chris.

+Chris Walker Not a bad idea for the final video. Thanks for all the good feedback through it all. You are on my list of faithful followers.

Plaster and paint is one sign that things are getting closer to finish. Personally, I hate textured walls: I have yet to found one that looks and age in a good way. This being said, I have a lot of respect for those who are rolling up their sleeves to make them. Can we get a status update about the electrical system, especially the battery bank? Keep up your excellent work.

Good points on a textured wall. I really was more or less indifferent to the textures of a wall until I had to choose one that I could do for myself. Live and learn. As for the batteries. The story hasn't made it very far from where we left it last. I have been carried away with installing a wood cookstove.

The drywall pros are right about the skip texture, it is really hard for the pro to do a good job on that as they are so good at doing perfect taping jobs. Where as amateurs are actually better at skip texture because they have very limited skill at it. ;)

bwillan I could respect that.

Lookin good! I'm hanging sheet rock right now and we are going to use American Clay (at americanclay dot com) for the texture.

Peter Cedergren That's cool. I kinda wish I had found it before my build. Best of luck on your project and enjoy the American clay.

Not really a yurt, but a round cabin.
@Simplegroundlife7 жыл бұрын
+SpankyRides I get that a lot.
@chaoticdriver7 жыл бұрын
So why do you do it? I guess it seems kind of click bait-ie. It's a totally different build/construction.
@Simplegroundlife7 жыл бұрын
+SpankyRides Well because to me this is a Yurt, I even bought it from a company called Smiling Woods Yurts. It isn't my intention to mislead anyone, I guess I have a different perspective on it. I hope to build a more traditional yurt before I die though. I am very intrigued by them. I couldn't build it now because the law in this county requires that I live in a permanent dwelling. So to follow my desire to have a yurt I had to make it permanent.
@shrike62597 жыл бұрын
looking at the wiki definition this structure meets all the critiria for modern yurt. round lattice wall (the 2x4 farming is a lattice) and it has a self supporting roof. complete with tentioning bands :-P
