Building an RC boat - can I make a Chris Craft Corvette out of an Aeronaut Victoria? Part 3.

Work continues on the hull, but there is a major disaster. Can it be salvaged?

Looking good. I use finishing resin inside the hull and on the exterior to seal from water and once sanded smooth fills in all gaps, seams and cracks for paint.

A lot of boat modellers do that but I built this one as the instructions as said.

I think port holes would be beter filled by sticking it on a bit of resin tape then filling the glass area with a bit of clear UV set resin and hardening with the little torch

So that you know, when Chris Craft delivered new boats, they painted their hull sides with fairly gloss enamel, but like most companies, their bottoms were painted with antifouling paint that was at best satin. Even today if you walk through any marina in the autumn and winter, you'll find plenty of boats with dead flat antifouling bottoms. You were actually just about right when you first sanded the bottom and could have left it there. Smaller trailerable boats may have had non-antifouling glossy bottoms, but never big cruisers.

i was wondering how you would havbe done the windoows mod but to be fair it went better than i though, just a though y did u not make it so it camre from inside the boat to the outside becasue u could have put a flange on the inside to make it fit flush and would have fit better, but what do i know im only a 3d printer guy, but over all im impressed

Could a brush on gelcoat make the process easier to sand also hide the inner structure before paint..may also give you a super smooth surface to lay paint..Looks amazing

@Modelling Misadventures it is the underlying coating on boats before paint. Cures really slick. Bush on type is fairly inexpensive from someone like Total Boat. Goes a long way

I think its better to paint a boat with a brush like they do with wooden boats

@@modellingmisadventures It looks more realistic like that with a good brush and quality paint you wont really see it i did on my rc tanks 😀 the paint is a lot stronger to 😊 and its so relaxing to do inside with some music 😘

Am I missing something here ? I was waiting for the end of the FAB 1 series and this is the 3rd part in this series. Am I not getting notifications ? I'll have to check the playlist. Anyway...Came out fantastic in the end after all that work. In fact, the finish probably looks better than the real boat does. Did you know you can airbrush the Molotow chrome paint ? It's quite delicate though, so probably the chrome spray paint will yield a hardier finish.
