I am currently using the Realistic Stereo Mixer with the weighted crossfader, with the click in the middle, it's what I learned on and its the only one I own. have to borrow mixers when playing out. love this episode.

Noize was the first to do that wah wah scratch using the Technics mixer, at The Summit in '97. I think he called it the "Bubble scratch", for some reason.

Nice to see D mentioning the Rodec Scratchbox. Indeed, developed by Grazz and Lamont. I believe the fader is an optical Infinium fader, tweaked specifically for this mixer. And indeed, Rodec isn't around anymore. The Pio 707 and 909 are from around 2005, so your timeline isn't 100% accurate 😉. I remember the 707 was originally around 600 €, then it suddenly dropped to 300 €, which made it an absolute steal.

The Rane 54 came out as early as 2000 (may have even been 1999). I remember I bought one in early 2000 over a Vestax 05. People dissed me for buying the Rane but I really liked that mixer. The big innovation there was the efx loop! The only thing was that the 54's efx loop was permanently set at 50/50 wet/dry, so it was kind of limited. Then, when the TTM-56 came out in 2003 they fixed the efx loop by adding a wet/dry slider, and it had MAGNETIC FADERS! Those magnetic faders where the thing that sold a lot of DJs.
@doderiolarkisso40385 жыл бұрын
im stil using a first gen ttm56..those faders are indestructible
@djcyberia5 жыл бұрын
I was about to say the same thing about the Magnetic Faders. When I met the engineer that created them at NAMM, I told him that those faders were the Holy Grail for scratching. Those faders, the great quality and sound and the Lexan faceplate that practically NEVER wears off, is why I still use my TTM56 to this day.
@JamBurglar5 жыл бұрын
Me too. I'm still on my original 56 from 2003.
@INTshyt5 жыл бұрын
LOL I did that with my boy. I had the gold qbert 05 and he came with the 54 and I was like WTF is that?! I was sold on the using the faders as line and cross. Rane was defiantly ahead of the curve
@JamBurglar5 жыл бұрын
@@INTshyt LOL! The original 54 had those metal transformer switches and people at the time were like "you need construction worker gloves to use those things"! By the time the 56 came out people were jockin' the Rane steeze.
@rockhills5 жыл бұрын
If you talk about the evolution of mixers you gotta mention DJ Focus from Arizona inventing a fader that didn't wear out that he modded for the Vestax PMC's. After that companies had to listen that faders should last. And he worked with Stanton for a while.
@JamBurglar5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Focus was innovating a LOT of stuff. Not just the Focus Fader but he did a lot of other mixer features, like the ability to record out of only one line of your mixer, etc.

Dope topic for this broadcast, started DJing in 1995 and my first mixer was a numark dm 1425 with the 8 sec sampler and I still have it, went from that to a gemini a basic mixer , numark mixer , A staton , then a numark again with built in effects , vestax pmc 05 , then the Rane 57 one of my favorites , then the 62 , and now I have 72 . Dang been through some mixers crazy how technology has changed the game.
@albundy065 жыл бұрын
The biggest thing IMHO with the 56 was that it was all three faders were the magnetic faders that were essentially bulletproof I can't remember for sure if they were the first to market with those type of faders or if it was the Hak series. The Hak only had the cross fader as one if I remember correctly Also, remember just how damn loud the damn headphone output on the 56! Hoky hell is that damn thing loud.

I LOVE this topic but I'm sorry that you covered so much of it in only 45 minutes! I owned an Ecler NUO 2 (the first model which couldn't have a fader upgrade) because I really liked my Vestax 06A but wanted better EQs for other genres of music; the revision is the NUO 2.0 which you can still buy after Ecler reorganized through a bankruptcy. Ecler is a Spanish company that makes the majority of the sound system for clubs in Spain and the strength of that scene supports them.

When I started Dj my cousin stepbrother gave me a Gemini mono mixer. Dame I think 🤔 I was 13 or 14 years old. With that mixer I experimented a lot like taking it a part and fixing the faders 🎚. I forgot the model but wouldn’t mine have it as a collection. I still have my second mixer from Numark it is call a mix master three channel mixer. Then I bought a numark em260 love that mixer and I still have it but now I’m still rocking my Rane 62 and to me is the best, the quality is top notch. Great video can’t wait to see the second part!!!! Ohh yea I forgot I also had a Vestax pro 05 but I sold it and the faders very smooth. But yes I regret selling it🤦🏻♂️
