Building Cross-Platform Apps with React Native + Next.js | Fernando Rojo | App.js Conf 2022

One of the main benefits of using React Native for us has been the ability to share non-UI code between our web applications and our mobile applications. In this talk, Fernando focused on how to properly set up a monorepo with shared code and React/React Native apps and how to build and deployment configurations for Expo, Vercel, etc.. He also covered architecture choices, authentication flows (same backend API but very different frontend), common problems, and some other issues we've encountered.

This stack sounds like it's trying to be Flutter for JS. I think it's a valuable endeavor, but to be totally honest, I don't see a lot wrong with Dart other than the relatively small developer base. This would just give the JS ecosystem more access to the same kind of functionality, which would be cool.

Which works better for the web because you don't have to ship a huge dart runtime with your page.

All web developer already use js for many project. Lot of lib are supported and huge community. There is good reason to still in js.

As far as i know in order to have file based navigation they had to build some features into the metro bundler to support such things, so yeah kinda at a native level, may not be the most "complicated" thing at a developer level but they wanted to have a parity among native platforms and the web.
