not officially, but we make them from bark on hardwood tree limbs, make a leather head with a hard felt core, wrap it in sinew. 👍🏻

What type oil did you Brothers coat the rawhide with? I have an issue with the rawhide on my drums absorbing moisture when I am outside and then you can't use it. Does the oil keep that from happening?

Hello! Any natural based oil will work well on rawhide, stay away from synthetic oils because eventually synthetic oils will harden and the rawhide will lose flexibility. Flexibility from humidity is a good thing as you can manipulate tone from the drum. It sounds like your drum may not be bound tight enough if it gets so loose that it is unplayable while in outdoor atmosphere. Try tightening your drum while it is loose with shims or lace more and hopefully this helps. Good luck! 🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥

How long do you let the rawhide soak before you continue?

Thanks for watching! We let ours soak for about 24 hours but it doesn’t have to be that long, just enough to gain flexibility so you can work with it. Be sure to use cool water because water too hot can deteriorate bits of the rawhide. 🔥👊🏻👊🏻🔥
