Please note there is a formula issue with the GBP=USD conversion on tables 1 & 2. The total expenditure in USD should be $3,274 and $1,021, respectively, for tables 1 & 2. I hope that by explaining that our base expenditure is in GBP, viewers will be able to do their own appropriate conversion. We have shared numerous cost breakdowns in our building process where the base expenditure was in GBP to GHC, and we converted the GHC to USD. The situation here with the roofing is that the base expenditure was in both USD and GHC, hence the formula issue. In terms of the roofing tiles table, we bought them from China in USD and paid using GBP. The total amount we spent was £4,011.63 or $4,636.72 (total invoice).

Please use only aluminium. We are near the sea and the roofing company would only recommend the aluminium. We have guarantee for 70years.

Congrats, they look great.🎉 I am at the roofing stage, myself and my house is smaller and that the estimate I was given the wood is the same amount like you guys. Hmm,Will the roofing material you used work for a house by the sea.

Please check your figures. The ceiling joint cost in USD (looking at the rates in cedis, it can’t be $697) The total cost in USD and GBP can’t be (almost) the same figures.

Hi Samuel, Our expenditures are in GBP. So we convert GBP to USD (843.57/1.21 = 697.17) Please check the footnote for further details. Thanks

@@princenikki Prince, I think and I may be wrong, the currency signs have been swapped. 333.93 Pound Sterling cannot be equal to $275.97. The reverse maybe true. I also think you listed 2 x 6 for the wood size twice, maybe the second one was supposed to be 2 x 4? On the currency side, all the dollars are higher that the pound sterling, which I don't know if that still holds true

The currencies have not been swapped. The British Pound Sterling has always been higher than the US Dollar. As per the footnote, at the time of our expenditure in September 2023, the exchange rate was 1:21. £333.93/1.21 = 275.97 without rounding. Today's exchange rate is 1:27. Hence, it will be even cheaper in USD. We used 2 x 6 and 2 x 4. Thanks

Am afraid the the ghanain roofing meterial vendors might try to block this china source because theirs is very expensive, and the want to keep the price as such.I remember a vendor gave me $14000 quatation for stone coated tiles like yours.my house is a one story house.So i think those greedy roofing tiles shops in ghana might try to block people from buying from china.

The calculation in US$ is wrong. There is nowhere in time in September 2023 that $ was stronger than £

@@princenikki I saw that but you don't seem to understand the mistake. I am the 3rd person in the comments to point it out. Instead of multiplying the $ figure by 1.21 you divided by 1 21 instead which made the amount in $ lower than the amount in £ which is inaccurate. Check the 1st breakdown please. The house is amazing. I used the same stone coated tiles in Togo.
