“The hole isn’t centered but it’s good enough because the rudder isn’t straight anyway.” I love it! This guy has no fear of stacking tolerances.

Your enginuity and willingness to experiment is a joy to behold, especially when seen at 2x, to keep it moving along, for those of us with 2x induced deficit syndrome. MUCH THANKS!!!

I've been looking forward to this video for 6 months, I think. The leeboard design is elegantly simple. Genius tripod mast for a lateen sail. I would reinforce the edge of the sail with rope, double-sided carpet tape by 3M and reinforce the corners of the sail with double sided tape and duck tape triangles.

Great ideas for reinforcing the sail. You're right, it's the weak point in the design. Stay tuned for when we take it out!
Before I "steal" some of your ideas (especially the rudder/tiller system and leeboard rig!) 1. What would you do different if you had to do it all over? 2. How many sleepless nights did you lose designing that canoe rig in your head, all night long?

I would do everything differently 🤣

Probably should make the Lee boards break away in case you should hit something. Same for the rudder. Bungee cords could be used to hold them in place but allow some flexibility upon impact.

Yeah, you're right. Bungees are a pretty simple idea, I might try that.

you may also consider having your lee boards fold so if you hit the bottom they pop back with a shock cord to hold them down. folding forward just looks like they will get damaged

You're right. Have modified the design.

If you run your main halyard down along your front tripod to a bow pully it will stop fouling your main you can then run the line down the gunnel rail to your jam cleat giving you clearer access to the centre of your canoe

exactly what I was thinking for the next iteration. working on it, thanks for watching.

Some of those lines look like a little overkill, no? But if it works, it works.

They certainly were, but they looked cool!

I have a video demonstrating the maiden voyage, they seemed to work ok. But I didn't build them sturdy enough.
