This is the first episode of my how-to, do it yourself guide to building model boats. For those of you who want to live in the razor's edge, tempting death world of video close calls and disasters... this ain't for you.
A lot of folks have seen my scratch-built model boats that I use on this site and they want to know how I make them and how they can make their own. So, I'm composing this video guide on exactly how I go about making my radio controlled model Great Lakes freighters. In this episode I'll show you the history of how I got started and how badly my first attempts at model boat making sucked. You'll see some of my mistakes and watch as my boats evolved to the point where I was being hired by the guys who sail the real things to make boats for them.
In our next episode we'll cover tools and materials and in the third episode, we'll start cuttin' some stuff up to make a laker.
As usual KZbin makes me list this as "Not for kids" so I can allow comments. Yet there is nothing in this vide that kids cannot see. Don't take my word for it... watch it yourself and decide.
