In this episode, we continue building our fence. It's amazing how something as simple as a fence has completely transformed this place and makes it feel so much more like our home.

I'm a 53 year old native New Yorker and I'm living vicariously through your life adventure. I've lived in Maine before and would like to move to the country and build a container home. So look forward to your posts each week. Have been watching you for over a year now. Have shared your story with others. So glad you are containing the Bear Boy with a fence. You don't need to worry about him running off. The other animals will miss free access, but they will learn to adjust. I don't know if you are having a boy or girl, I just know you will impart the best values to your children. Your Bear and my Poppy are a whole lot alike. We call Poppy our LIve Grenade. Bear is your LIve Grenade. Poppy is a whole lot smaller, being a Cairn Terrier, but she gets into everything, just like THE BEAR. Happiness and peace to you all.

@@cjw2661 You can isolate the electrified run from the fence itself so it in no way contacts any metal part of the fence. You can even go a step further - if you wanted to be really anal about it - and isolate each section of the fence mesh/wire from the next so should the electrified part be pushed onto or otherwise be made to come into contact with anything metal on the fence it wouldn't electrify the rest of it.

It is coming along really well guys just two things to help out I am from a farming background when you staple the fencing wire go diagonal cross the t in the wire will add to the strength plus when placing the post in the ground the main strainers a block of wood stapled to the bottom on a short about half foot of wire compacted down well will add to the stability and strength plus to stabilize the strainer post you can cut a notch out of the strainer and affix a brace on a 45 % down angle sunk into the ground will stiffen it up hugely

That fence may keep the cows out. Yet it wont keep bear in. Also once bear shows the coyotes how to go around the fence, they too will be inside. Alas you need to close the fence along the pond. If anything to keep the child from accidental drowning.

But they're not. Did you watch the video? She said Bear is roaming the woods at night. Either he's not allowed inside at night or perhaps when she said "at night" she meant evening like after sunset but before bed time. Either way, seems preventable if they bring him inside at night. And when he is let out to relieve himself, put a (long?) leash on him and go out there with him while he does is duty.

@Hay Mamacita FYI I live of grid . And it's called expereance . pretty much everything that I have suggested they did, even things they didn't want to ,like repaint those containers. which I won't be surprised if they repaint them again in a much lighter color like white that green metal in the summer will get 150 degrees easy. Oh and Mamacita back when I was making those kind of suggestions there were not very many followers yet . I don't do that anymore. I just keep cheering them on. I know that the first two years off the grid are very challenging. Most don't make it. I cAnt tell you how many peices of land have half a built houses with rotting trailers that they lived in while they built the house. Oh Merry Christmas 😎

You guys have made fantastic progress with the fence, but bear is already plotting his late night escape! LOL! Spencer is a super trooper to tread though cold water to put up the fence! The wild hogs are scoping out the new fence !

It's really good that you guys can laugh at the things that suck, I am like that also. You two make the cutest couple and your baby is going to be absolutely beautiful!❤️
