my shop has a reward system. I spent 1000 on parts building ups my new bike. Last time I went in to get a new seat post and bar ends and 2 tubes and got 45 dollars off from my points. What the viewer is trying to say is, if the spokes are really tight the wheel won’t flex causing spokes to snap. However, if the spokes have less tension the wheel flexes a little bit.

Alfredo!! I gotta question about my new build Im having problems with. Rode most of my life, started around 11yrs old and stopped around 26. Now, 8 years later just bought a frame and all the parts for my dream build. I’ve always built my own bikes except when the time Came to space the cranks and correctly aligning the sprocket and cog for perfect chain alignment. I live a few miles from Albes so I Always had them do it. I would Just have them do it for me but they are not doing repairs nor letting people in because of this COVID shit. I got the bike built up, but of course first ride and my chain alignment must be a smidge off. I’m running the odyssey la guardia sprocket and a profile mini cassette with 9t driver. I am using the shadow supreme chain and because my alignment is even just a smidge off while I pedal the cranks feel like they are grinding, clearly it’s not the cranks as I noticed the master pin on the supreme Chain is somehow hitting the top inside of the guard sprocket every inch or so there are marks. So this is my problem. I used one 3mm crank spacer on the drive side and also one of the smallest ones 1mm maybe? Im pretty sure if I remove the smaller spacer and leave just the 3mm it will run fine. Well hopefully. I’m gonna work on it in the am tomorrow. Now here is my other concern, taking off that one small spacer will put my driver size crank arm much closer to the chain stay than the non driver side space between the crank arm and chain stay. Clearly you want the crank arm gaps between the arms and the chain stay to be as close to the same gap as possible. This is why I put the 1mm spacer on the drive side in the first place. Idk wtf to do. Is there anything I can do with/to my rear cassette that will get the driver to move outward just a smidge so the I don’t have to remove that 1mm spacer? Or should I just remove the spacer and if that works should I just not worry about the driver side crank arm gap being white a bit closer to to the chain stay than the non drive side. I also am running the odyssey thunderbolt+ cranks, just throwing that out there Incase that matters.

Thanks is exactly why I run spline drive cranks and sprocket (Profile Columns) since you don't need a drive bolt through the sprocket, it's easier to space the sprocket and crank arms properly. Plus the sprocket runs true, with little to no "tight spots", I also stress out about a straight chain line, but it seems to me, most people just slap their shit together and pay no attention to it..

Mike Hagen yeah I hear that. I’m ocd as hell when it comes to having my shit dialed. I could easily just run the setup without touching it and a good day or two of riding will most likely make everything ride smooth cuz the sprocket is brand new and not broken in yet and with aluminum being so soft the master pin will just set its path intro the sprocket as it’s hardly touching the sprocket but it’s enough to make the cranks feel nasty af right now. The chain line is damn near Almost perfect, except being maybe 1-2mm off, but by the eye it looks dead on. It could just be my setup, running a guard sprocket with the thickest chain made. Ima work on it in a little bit. With these damn thunderbolt cranks you don’t use the sprocket adaptor, the driveside arm has a lip/race that a 15/16 sprocket gets pressed onto then you put the sprocket bolt on. So I’m gonna pull that off today too and make sure that it pressed, or more like beaten with a Mallet to make sure it’s flat up against the crank arm. You’d think they would have this shit figured out already. Like a instruction guide for width of sprockets/bb and hub/axle type for a guide on bow many spacers to use.
