The car looks alot nicer than stock if your the tuner type. I plan to work with a 2017 model car sometime soon. You mentioned the front end pushing around corners. You also said you lowered the front .5 inches more and dialed up the compression on the rear to resolve the issue. That method does work. Most front drive cars wheel alignment is adjusted to provide a front end push at limits for safety reasons. It communicates to the driver that the cornering speed is too high, and the driver should slow down. For performance driving, a little push in the front is ok in a rear drive car, as it can be overcome with throttle input. Not the same in a front drive car. The changes you made resolved your pushing issue, but you also mentioned ride harshness associated with the coil over setup. When you lowered the front of the car more than the back, you reduced Caster at the front wheel, reducing Caster has the effect of making bumps more pronounced. But you provided more weight bias over the front tires, which reduced push. Increasing compression in the back of the car also provides pressure to the front tires, which can also help to reduce understeer. But also makes the ride more harsh. You can also reduce understeer by changing the wheel alignment to a more racing style alignment, but not recommended with your current setup. I recommend removing the rake, to increase caster, (reduces harshness), and dialing back the compression in the rear shocks. That would mean you would have the closer to factory ride. So it would be smoother over bumps. Unfortunately the front end understeer would return. To resolve the understeer issue without creating a harsh ride, increase toe. Adding positive toe at the front end will reduce understeer. Ensure the camber is within spec, lowering the car can increase camber, which reduced rubber on the road. Camber bolts are available to restore camber. A racing alignment shop can perform the work and confirm my advice. But there is a balance between enough steering and tire wear.

Hello friend, I've noticed that you have knowledge about vehicle modifications, especially regarding the Kia Forte. I recently purchased a very similar one, and like you, it's my first car. Mine is a Kia Forte 2013 Ex. My first planned modification is to change the tires. It comes from the factory with R15 195/65, but I would like to install R17. I've seen that R17 225/45 is compatible, but I've also noticed that you have a very similar model and you're using R215/45. Is there a specific reason for this, or were the factory tires on your car different? I'm concerned that there might be some issues with the ABS system or the vehicle's performance.
@hz64942 жыл бұрын
I have a 2.0 Forte and the previous owner changed the tire size to thicker 215/50R17. I am not sure if the car stock handling is bad or if its caused by the thicker tire size. I was told the stock rims are easily deformed when going potholes therefore some people changed to thicker tires, have you heard of this?
@NeedForRide2 жыл бұрын
Stock tire on our 17 inch rim should be 215/45/R17. Anything above or below will make your speedo reading inaccurate.. It's best to stick with the stock profile.. Unless you're running on 16 inch rims, then you will need to use 50' profile tires.. Stock rims are heavy duty and also alot heavier, I don't think it will deform so easily.. 😁

Thanks for your videos! I am considering a new 5 year COE car too. Do you have any views on Nissan sylphy, Chevy Cruze, Toyota Altis and Kia Forte? I am thinking which one I should get.
@NeedForRide4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching bro!! Nissan Sylphy: I can't comment because I've never drive it before. Chevrolet Cruze: Pro 👉 Great on highway driving because of it's chassis design. It's stable and "Less Float" so it feels like driving a continental car. Con 👉 Slow on city driving, because it weighs at 1350KG, pretty heavy for a 1.6cc car.. My dad use to drive a Chevrolet Cruze, pick up and fuel consumption (8 - 9KM/Litre) are not that fantastic unless you are looking at the 1.4cc Turbo then that would be a different story. Toyota Altis: Pro 👉 Great on fuel consumption, one of the most reliable Japanese car and spare parts are easy to source. Con 👉 Cost price is high and the yearly depreciation will burn your pocket. Kia Forte: Pro 👉 Cost price is low and the spart parts aren't expensive. Furthermore you will never get boring with the design. Con 👉 It would be great if the manufacturer are able to increase the horsepower just by a little bit but still It's pretty sufficient to drive around in the city especially in Singapore. Fuel consumption isn't great too (9 - 10KM/Litre) End of the day It's all about individual preferences. There are too many things to consider, e.g. Reliability, Cost and Looks. Visit the car dealer and test drive all the cars you mentioned above, get the feel of it and you will never go wrong with your feeling. Enjoy your new ride bro. 💪💪💪

hey man, just a few questions. 1) was your stock wheel nuts used on your new set of rims? 2) how is the ride of bc coilovers. is it too stiff and bumpy for daily use? (i do a lot of driving everyday) 3) does coilovers need to be serviced? and if so, how often and how much? appreciate you replying, thanks!
@NeedForRide4 жыл бұрын
Hi jptuaz, 1) The stock wheel nuts were changed out because it's not compatible with the aftermarket wheels. 2) Coilovers are not comfortable as stock suspension. If you are looking for comfort, stick with stock suspension. Right now my setup for dampering is front 26 click, Rear 26 click, preload is stock setting from factory, ride height (Wheel and fender) is front 0.5 finger rear 1 finger. The ride is very stiff and harsh.. 3) I've been using my current set of coilvers for 1.5 years.. It's still running great. Some people says coilovers need to be service for every 3 to 4 years and also it really depends on your usage (aggressive driving etc). So whats your ultimate aim for changing to coilovers?
@jaypt004 жыл бұрын
NeedForRide thanks for you reply, as i drive a lot of mileage everyday, i would not want it to be crashy and of course i’m going for looks and also handling. so i’m torn between eibach/vogtland lowering springs or coilovers. i heard that coils can be livable if you set it up right and get it corner balanced right? btw saw you at sle today at around noon haha!

What are your current coilover damping settings and how much harsher is the ride compared to stock? Do you have problems with carparks and speed bumps?
@NeedForRide5 жыл бұрын
Hi Belugea, initially the damping was Front 20 / Rear 16 and tire pressure was Front 37psi / Rear 33psi.. Back then my forte understeer at the entry of corner, so I increase the rear damping (Up another 2 level), lower down the front ride height by 1/2 inch and increase rear tire pressure by 1psi which means the new setup for damping is Front 20/ Rear 18, tire pressure is Front 37psi / Rear 34psi and the car "Turn In" really well at the corner.. After fine tuning the car handling, now the latest setting I'm running on for damping is Front 26 / Rear 24, tire pressure is Front 37psi / Rear 34psi and the rear end slip slightly (Oversteer) at the "Mid Corner".. I have resolved that by installing a wing to increase more rear end grip.. Comfort Level: 1 to 10 Stock is 1. Coilover is 7-8. (Depends on your damper setting) It would not hit 10 "As long as you don't replace it with a higher spring rate or increase the preload" I have no issue with most of the bumps but on certain 'steep' ramps/slopes, I will be scraping my undercarriage.. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the coilovers on my forte. If handling is what you are looking for, go and get the coilover install.. Enjoy your ride.. 😊
