Building my QK65

If it sounds like I'm talking into the back of my microphone, it's because I am.
I couldn't wait to build out my QK65, so instead of doing it on stream I just decided to go through the build process in a video. Custom keyboards aren't that hard!

you're welcome! the alphas are a set called GMK Pixel, and the modifiers are the "blocknet" modifiers from GMK Laser

The R1 kit that I got came with a coiled USB cable but I decided to not use it since I already had one that I liked!

where tf do u order/find qk65s?

it depends on where you live actually since qwertykeys will either fulfill themselves if you're in the US (i think), or you would have had to go through a regional distributor. since i'm in asia, i had to go through swagkeys. with that said though, i have no idea if there's still stock of the QK65 anywhere and you may need to wait for a future round if they do another one again. but as of this comment the QK80 is about to be available for purchase so you might be able to grab one of those if you don't mind the TKL layout.

gotta check if the plate foam is sticking out too much, if so , please remember to tuck them inside the bottom case ( the casted alu piece)

did u not cut out the pe foam where ur stab stem hits? it feels mushy if not

I didn't, actually, and you're right, they do feel a bit mushy. I'll cut out the stab holes the next time I open my case.

it looks like r2 should still come with the owlstabs but are classified as "free gifts", which means if they just happen to be missing, or are damaged, they won't be replaced.

Is the pcb 1.2mm? Or regular thickness?

The stabilizers didn't come with any spacers so as far as I know it should be a standard thickness for the PCB. I didn't test it with other PCB mount stabs, though.

I'm pretty sure it's 1.2mm, but the Owlstabs are compatible with it. Atleast that's what I've gathered from the Discord.
