great vid Troy. I built a 5m x 6 by 2.3 room inside a room inside a shed outta limestone blocks, dble roof, dble doors, works great, never had a complaint even with band rehearsals, got to be nice to your neighbours and you can practice guilt free.

Thanks so much, Dean for your kind words. Your room sounds like it would be awesome. I'm hoping one day to have a slightly bigger room with a separate control room.
@DeanWuksta3 жыл бұрын
@@TroyGrech_In2Drums I had a separate vocal/amp booth, which isolated from the main room quite well, but didn’t use it enough, preferred more open space

Yeah, I don’t think I would need anything like that as it’s mainly just me I’m recording and am not too interested in recording bands. 😂

Hi I thanks for your video. I live in Chile and as other people living in highly seismic locations, securing the inner room to something firmly as with bolts to concrete is a must!
@TroyGrech_In2Drums2 жыл бұрын
Hi from Australia! Thanks soo much for watching the video and for commenting. That would certainly be a big concern. Fortunately for me seismic activity is not really an issue. I’m not too sure what alternatives would be available for that issue.

Hi Troy. Great vid. I'm about to do the exact same scenario as you. Just finished a new build with the "theater" to become my studio. I have built before in my previous home using fire check gyprock, barium vinyl etc. Worked great. I didn't have air flow as this seemed problematic. Definitely want it this time around. Would you make a vid showing how you achieved this please.
@TroyGrech_In2Drums3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for checking out my studio build Dave. I have already done a video regarding “Fresh Air”. Here is the link. The only thing I would suggest is that you line the boxes with a different material as it was pointed out after the fact that it probably wasn’t a good idea to use acoustic foam (may have mild issues). Awesome mate. Building our house here in Melbourne as well. Will be converting the theatre room as a small rehearsal room for me and my 2 kids (my boy is a drummer 😁) after handover. I would love it if you can hook me up with your mate that helped you build the floating room. Cheers. 😀

Hi, Thank you so much for posting this video. It is very helpful and I have stolen some of your ideas because.... ...I am currently building a drum room for my son. The one thing I'm not sure how to do are the silencers for the air intake and exhaust. I have seen your long boxes. I would dearly love to know more so I can build one.

Great results! I'm very envious. How often do you have to open the windows? Does it get stuffy with just the boxed air circulation? Thinking of building a practice room in my backyard and first thought was to do a double layer of bricks.
@TroyGrech_In2Drums3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for checking out the video. I don’t actually have to open the windows that often as the air vent system and air conditioner make it very comfortable in there. Yes if you can do double bricks that would work very well. I would still have an air gap (room within a room) if possible though.
@abrahamgb1 Жыл бұрын
Hey man !! You think it’s possible to get this amazing result leaving in a 2nd floor apartment ? To not bother people upstairs or downstairs ? exactly like your room totally quite !
@TroyGrech_In2Drums Жыл бұрын
Hey Abraham! I think it would definitely be better, but it wouldn’t be as affective. The whole idea is to limit transfer of vibration through direct contact and air. My room sits on concrete and I’m assuming that your floor would be timber. I would guess it would work well and would definitely be an improvement, but it won’t be 100% sound silent.

Thanks big help. I have tried unsuccessfully before and about to give it another crack at new place. Can you give a rough estimate of what your budget was? Have you heard of green glue?
@TroyGrech_In2Drums3 жыл бұрын
No problem, thanks for checking it out! Budget wise, it’s been a while but I would guess that at the time it was around $7- $10k AUD. Again, it’s just a guess and I did have friends that helped me out work wise. Yes I have heard of green glue, but it was very expensive and given my current rooms performance without using it….. I’m not sure it’s worth the extra cost. Totally up to you to work out what is best for your needs/ budget.
Nice video dude. Just about to buy our first house (in UK) and it has a garage so Im doing all sorts of research into sound proofing it so I can get back into drumming! Checked out your other content too and I will definitely be tuning in again soon! Subscribed! 100% Under rated channel!

Please let me know if you have any questions or if you have any other video requests. I’ll do my best to get them out. 😎

@@TroyGrech_In2Drums Brill! Looking forward to seeing that. I'd be venting to out side the back of the garage but still will need a baffled box of sorts i would imagine. I've not had an acoustic kit since I lived at my folks place 12+ years ago so I'm super excited to get back into it, albeit extremely rusty :D
@TroyGrech_In2Drums3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! It just a baffle box but it will make all the difference. You sound like you’re all over it so I’m sure the rust will come of quickly!
