Thank you for sharing.... this is like a documentary for when I built my 26' dome last year! I can relate to every second of your video and it makes me smile at the memories 😊

oh this is so cool! we are originally from AB, moved to BC. I have had my eye on these greenhouses for a while! Cool to see it being put up!

Thanks for watching and it was defiantly an interesting build. We cant wait until it’s all finished inside. Also we wish we could move to BC… lucky you!

Very nice! We are building our 20ft dome in Northern Ontario. My wife is driving me nuts for us to get it done but happy wife happy life. We are only getting about 60 days sans frost so we certainly will need it.

That’s awesome. Our summers are far too short! We don’t want to think about frost but it will be here sooner than later. Good luck with your build

I would recommend installing vertical perimeter insulation. Without it, the heat has a direct pathway out of the greenhouse via the gravel base and the ground.
@AlbertaAdventurerFamily5 ай бұрын
Thanks we may have to do that.
@JohnGuest455 ай бұрын
@@AlbertaAdventurerFamily It wont be easy to retrofit but is worth doing especially with temperatures down to -50 :). I`d opt to remove the exterior rocks and gravel and install wing insulation which is basically a skirt of rigid insulation that slopes away from the dome. Vertical perimeter insulation requires less material but will involve digging a relatively deep trench around the dome. Something else you may not have considered is the north wall triangles that have reflectix on them effectively block the light so you could fill those triangles with rigid insulation to further reduce heat loss. The insulation value would increase from R2.8 to at least R 17. In an extreme climate, every little helps :)

Heyy congrats for the adventure souls I want to build 3 or more for bussines idea in a ski center in my town Btw the fact that shocks me is that building one in balkan with every thing involved can cost you up to 5000! Even with a metal base stitched to land and in usa it is 23000 + Ps: i wish u have a wonderful and healthy life🫶

I forgot to mention all of metal construction !!

Thanks for watching and and adventure it sure has been. Wow that sounds amazing and yes these are expensive. I’m Canadian it’s even more than the above price you mention. Cheers

I’m actually thinking about building one of these during the winter. How do you think it would hold up in the Yukon? Thinking about year round growing!
@AlbertaAdventurerFamily3 ай бұрын
Well we get close to similar winters you probley get a bit colder but we hit - 50c a few time in winter I’ll let you know how we make out this year being our first winter with the dome. We only build it 2 months ago and we did install a natural gas heater for the colder months to keep the dome above freezing. But so far we are loving it. It’s well worth the investment and time.

@@AlbertaAdventurerFamily ya I would love to know the fuel bill especially for the colder months. I was thinking a wood stove with coils around the exhaust and circulate the water from the stock tank
@AlbertaAdventurerFamily3 ай бұрын
@@Frank-qr3bl that is a excellent idea we may do that also as we are putting in a wood stove eventually as well.
